Congratulations to all, hope the day goes well for all.
In my opinion not the most inspiring of refereeing appointments, however the assistants are fully deserving.
Kavanagh seems to have been on a downward spiral during his performances in recent months, however i wish
Him and the team all the best for saturday.

Well after the season Kavanagh has had combined with the stakes being so high as well as the financial riches to the winner this appointment is bizarre to say the least I am slightly stunned but I do hope the match goes well for Chris and his team and I wish them all the best , this appointment certainly isn’t based on merit though

I’m really struggling with some of the comments on here, it’s baffling and I’ve clearly watched a completely different season.

Chris Kavanagh has had another good season (with plenty of big fixtures) and any major controversies from the games I’ve seen were due to involvement with VAR - which as we know has been an ongoing theme for a number of games this season.

I think it’s a throughly deserved appointment and alongside the FA Cup Semi Final is another chance for the team (Sian and Dan included) to be trusted with a big game. Hopefully we get to see this more in Europe next season.

The ridiculous sending off of the West Ham defender in the Chelsea game was entirely his call as the on field referee which was later rescinded. He needs to up his game if he does get further exposure in Europe.

Prior to this season I had rated him but he has had few poor high profile games this season and never seems to want to change his mind on VAR reviews.

I go back to the previous comment I've made.

In this first instance, the referee allowed play to continue.

Was then shown clips where it can be argued a red card should be issued.

The expected decision after the referee has been sent to the screen, in this example, is a red card.

Do I think a referee should be called over to the screen for that challenge? No.

Do I understand why a red card was issued with the clips shown on the day (in slow mo) - yes.

Reference the changing of mind, what are you expecting to see?
