General Discussion / Re: Michael Oliver: Man Utd v Spurs

Good spot from Oliver. No need for Romero to follow through in that situation.

Agree excellent start to the season for Hooper well managed throughout which contributed to a enjoyable game for the neutral.

General Discussion / Re: A TAYLOR - Liverpool v Bournemouth
« on: Fri 15 Aug 2025 20:20 »
I think its handball, comes off his thigh but he makes a movement towards the ball, deliberate movement for me. Dont think Taylor can see it. VAR should be intervening.

I think Aston Villa need to look at points dropped after European games this year long before they shout at TB - yes its a poor decision, one given out of an assumption the keeper had possession of the balll in his hands. He blew the whistle because he thought it was a foul. Under NO circumstances was  VAR designed to ref those situations
Why did he feel the need to rush to the whistle? The ball was heading into the net before the whistle, delay 2 seconds and avoid all problems its no different to offsides

It takes time for a referee to learn to go against their instinct to blow that they will have done up until being promoted to the EPL and using VAR. I have a lot of sympathy with TB.

Agreed I do have a lot of sympathy for Bramall. He has had more EFL games than EPL which no doubt played a part here. His last few games have shown he is more than capable of operating in the EPL could have been managed much better this season.

Correct decision to award a penalty now to Utd, judging by the delay it looks like communication from Howson to award.

Should be a Villa goal for me keeper not in control of the ball there, Bramall blowing the whistle before the ball enters the goal not allowing VAR to intervene. Disappointing as he'd had a good afternoon up to that point.

General Discussion / Re: Sam Barrott - Ipswich v Brentford
« on: Sat 10 May 2025 23:56 »
Difficult afternoon for Barrott, dark arts well and truly on display this afternoon. Very surprising that Gillet has recommended an OFR for Tuanzebe on Collins.

Would agree Adam, been a poor start to the season for Hennessy who hasn't been anywhere near his best.

Rob Harvey would have been a better option imo, with McLaughlin injured and O'Sullivan missing the start of the season.

General Discussion / Re: Andy madley- arsenal vs man united
« on: Sun 12 Jan 2025 17:09 »
The last person in the ground who wants a extra 30 minutes is Madley. Agree with previous posts really poor from Madley, just so inconsistent with his foul detection.

I know both were completely different games but a striking difference in the approach from Sam Barrott to this fixture versus Madley's approach today.

General Discussion / Re: Female Assistants
« on: Tue 23 Jan 2024 22:53 »
On a side note both Natalie Aspinall and Sian Massey Ellis seem to be operating in the Championship this season var appointments aside
Personally find it a tad surprising give the recent announcements regarding the push for diversity from the powers that be, that two of the most capable female officials seem to be operating at a lower level. Any thoughts ?

13
Ederson unable to continue, needs to be looked at clear offside there is no benefit to either team having a delayed flag.

14
Barrott has had a great game hasn’t fallen for any theatrics, two cautions spot on. Blended into the background and let the game flow. Definitely at home in SG1.

General Discussion / Re: D BOND - Sheff Wed v Hull
« on: Mon 01 Jan 2024 19:47 »
Agreed! Having seen a clip from Bond’s angle was always going to be a red card even with minimal contact. Glad to see he gave himself thinking time but ultimately correct decision for me.
