Best not be - we only got relegated purely to avoid that scenario!

Anyone know what has happened to James Linington? Was taken off Saturdays game and does not appear in any of these fixtures. Still down as 4O tomorrow but suspect that won’t happen either.
Over to bmb who can normally find these things out

Not a clue! Current climate covid related is 1st thought but there is always the possibility it is Red Star related. We've had a fair few storms and around here lately, it's a real wind tunnel so it could be as simple as the ferry being taken out of service & there is no other way off the island. It was very windy on Fri/Sat (I couldn't open my car door into the wind in our car park on Friday eve because it was too strong & had to text one of my male neighbours to come and yank it open for me so I could get out of the car!) so may have just been an unable to travel issue.  Currently that spot of water is possibly a crime scene after the SBS boys had a day out & bit of fun & games there yesterday afternoon so not sure how the ferry is working currently! (Can we just ignore bmb being completely oblivious to a fleet of military helicopters flying past her window at least twice!!! I was on #SolymosiWatch at the time in my defence & it took seeing my home town trending on twitter before I noticed anything was amiss!!)  ::)

Is my reading of these appointments correct in deducing that in certain Championship matches, if the referee goes down injured, his replacement would be a specialist AR who may not have refereed seriously for some time. ?It seems extraordinary that a 4th is not always a specialist referee, either SG2 or officiating in Leagues 1 and 2

Reading FC (First Team) v Preston North End FC (First Team)
Football League Championship
Referee: Brooks, John
Assistant Referee: Greenhalgh, Nick
Assistant Referee: Howson, Akil
Fourth Official: Russell, Mark

I've noticed this trio officiating regularly together this season - could it be a sign that they are being readied for promotion and could form a regular PL trio? I think all 3 officials are likely to get promoted at some point?

It may well be that Messrs Brooks, Greenhalgh and Howson are being prepped for promotion. It is well within the bounds of possibility and perhaps even probability.

A bizarre decision by Andy Davies at Watford last night. Watford hit the bar and the ball came down on the line before being picked up by the Stoke goalie who was promptly barged over the line by a frustrated Watford player. At this point, Andy's watch must have buzzed because he pointed to it and gave a goal, seemingly thinking that the ball had crossed the line after hitting the bar rather than following a clear foul on the Stoke goalie who was holding the ball. Very odd!

As usual but after being almost snubbed in the first few weeks of the season and kept away from Championship games he is now on an impressive run
Can ANYONE explain ?? 😱

He only refereed one match after lockdown when last season resumed. After that match I remember noticing he was replaced on his next appointment so can only assume he had injury problems.

Prior, to this season starting he would have only refereed 1 match in just under 6 months so I guess the reason he started off in league one and two was due to a phased return to action rather than performance related.

I saw a poster a few weeks ago comment on the lack of appointments for the newly promoted Leigh Doughty, Josh Smith and Michael Salisbury. This could also be down to the Select Group 2 return to action plan.
As League one and Two only resumed for the playoffs last season after lockdown rather than the regular league games all these officials would have only refereed 1 or two games in six months just like Davies. This may be why they have had fewer appointments than usual at this stage for promoted select group 2 referees.
