A good spread of referees for these fixtures with, arguably, the top match going to SG1 Michael Salisbury, Ipswich v Southampton. Good to see James Linington back in the middle in what, I guess, may be one of his last games as an SG2 in the Championship.

Really pleased for Adam Herczeg and Alex Chilowicz, two of the best i’ve seen for Colchester this season. I’ll be at Ipswich on Monday night for the big clash, so look forward to that showdown. Rebecca Welch and Josh Smith with big games at the bottom too.

Why has Salsbury been announced but not the other  SG1 referees?

AT, do you think Linington will be coming off SG2 at end of season? I've not really been following.

2 select group 1 for Ipswich for both Blackburn and Southampton. Probably another next week for our game at Norwich as well.

I’m only theorising but I don’t think SG1 attention has been drawn to the East Anglian derby as regularly as one would think.

I wouldn’t be surprised if someone like Barrott or Allison may well be drafted in for that match..

Agree. With the exception of the play offs the last time that a SG1 referee was appointed was Lee Probert in 2008. A number of those appointed to the East Anglian derby have gone onto promotion to SG1 but Trevor Kettle wasn't one of those. I'm also thinking that Sam Barrott is the likely contender.

I never realised Kettle had done that match in the past….

Must have been a memorable experience for all fans in the ground! 😂

I'm sure he would be but they weren't meant to announce it until tomorrow.
