Good to see James Linington back in the middle in what, I guess, may be one of his last games as an SG2 in the Championship.
Why?
I suspect the fact that Liningtons string of 4th official duties, combined with someone on RTR saying a friend of his had seen Linington in a track suit at one of the referee meetings doing his coaching exams, has led to speculation that he is about to take up a new role. Not sure what credence, if any, to attach to this
There are a few refs in their 20's & 30's who have done their coaching badges so it's no real indicator of anything. They take on coaching county CORE groups etc
Just to stop all this speculation about Linny...
78.4% donkeys polled on the IOW stated they refused to share their pasture with him, the other 21.6% said we're waiting on a decision from VAR. A spokesman for the PGMOL said "well obviously we're disappointed, we've been trying to put him out to pasture for the past 2-3 years but the donkeys are just not having it. His customised mobility scooter sits waiting for him in his personalised parking space at Dean Court but every effort we have made to remove his gold plated name plaque has been thwarted by some mad woman screaming and ranting about y****w shirts running us over in her wheelchair. It's a nightmare to be honest!"
Either that or the fact he had a slight hamstring issue so missed a few games and went as 4O for a few when he returned running and strengthening his hammy so it won't tighten up again.
I'll let you decide which is more likely. Personally I have always found the donkeys on the IOW to be absolutely brutal!
