I've seen a lot worse dissent go unpunished so the consistency isn't great from that perspective but it is a 2nd yellow on it's own. I just wish Referees would punish it more which is where the frustration comes from as a player will do that in the future and not get booked.

Another game, another major error by Holly - decision to send off Cameron Woki in the England - France game last Saturday has been ruled incorrect and over-turned - second major game in a row where she has made a major, game changing error which has been over-turned by the authorities

Do we think this experiment has now run its course, and can we go back to appointing the best performing officials to the most important games ?

Surely the problem lies with the person in the bunker as both red cards were given as yellows and then upgraded on bunker review.

General Discussion / Re: E ESKAS - Bilbao v Man U
« on: Thu 01 May 2025 21:30 »
I think that Man Utd are very lucky that wasn't a free kick against them as it was very similar to the penalty that was given and if we are talking about consistency then it should be a free kick and a red card against Lindelof.
if you can’t see a clear difference there then it’s a big problem.ther was no hold by maguire
Well thankfully for you, I'm not a Referee and I will never be one but as this site says everyone is allowed an opinion as long as they don't abuse other users on this site which I haven't or abuse the ref which I also haven't. I've explained why I don't think it's a penalty and I don't think you need to be saying there is a big problem because I am entitled to my opinion.
well apologies my fault for saying it’s a problem but imo never a foul
And I respect your opinion as you are entitled to it just as I am entitled to mine. I am more than happy for you to educate me on why it's a penalty and why it's not a foul but as with a lot of things in football, there is subjectivity to it so one person will see something one way and someone else will see it the other.

What has Lindelof got to do with it please?
Sorry I thought it was Lindelof but it was Maguire.

I might be in the minority here but I don't think that's a penalty as for me there isn't enough contact for it to be given. If your gonna start giving penalty's for things like this then there would be a penalty given at every corner as those sorts of challenges happen all the time and are never given. He's also missed quite a few obvious fouls for both teams and I think Athletic Bilbao have every right to be upset.

General Discussion / Clement Turpin - Barcelona vs Inter
« on: Wed 30 Apr 2025 21:56 »
First and foremost, what an unbelievable game that was and credit to both teams for playing the game in great spirit. On to the referee, who contributed brilliantly to the game and got pretty much everything spot on including 2 correct bookings. The only real note of controversy was the offside decision which was as close as you can possibly get and will probably restart the discussion about whether we want those offsides to be given or not.

General Discussion / Re: S VINCIC - Arsenal v PSG
« on: Wed 30 Apr 2025 14:39 »
I thought he was okay for the first 40 minutes but after that foul he gave against Saka he got worse. He gave a lot of soft free kicks which the players didn't respect and ultimately led to the players surrounding him all the time. I also cannot understand why he stopped the game to allow PSG to make a sub.

Cup Appointments / Re: The Emirates FA Cup - 2024/2025
« on: Tue 29 Apr 2025 18:12 »
Congratulations to all appointed and a deserved one for Stuart Attwell who has had a great season up to this point. No suprise that Jarred Gillett is VAR as he seems to be the best VAR we have at the moment alongside Michael Salisbury.

Non Footy Appointments / Re: European Rugby Semi Finals
« on: Mon 28 Apr 2025 16:40 »
Suprised to see Brousset as I didn't think he did all that well in the previous round. No suprise that Andrea Piardi hasn't been used as he's had a few bad games recently but hopefully he can return to form as he's generally pretty good. Good to see Nika on a semi-final as he's been really good the last few years and this is a reward for that even if others have said that he hasn't had the best season in Europe

Congratulations to David Webb on his appointment, I haven't always thought he's done that well in the games I've watched him but that's not to say he's a bad ref and I hope it goes well for him. Rob Jones and Craig Pawson with 2 big games in the race foe Europe. Suprised to see Peter Bankes given his performance in the Bournemouth vs Man Utd game. Good to see Simon Hooper be rewarded with a top 6 clash especially with Chelsea still in the race for Europe although I would imagine they will be fielding a similar team to Spurs. Good games for Stuart Attwell and Darren Bond in the Championship as well.

It’s yet another example of officials not understanding the game. There is no force behind the challenge, no malicious intent, he has simply slipped.

It’s never a red card in a million years.
I'm not saying it's a red but I thought intent wasn't in the law book and there have been reds given for challenges that have had no malicious intent this season for example the Dorgu red card vs Ipswich.
