General Discussion / Re: M Oliver - Liverpool Man City
« on: Sun 10 Mar 2024 18:53 »
I personally didn't think it was a penalty as Doku won the ball. Yes he caught him with the follow through but personally don't think that was a clear and obvious error and so var was right not to get involved

General Discussion / Re: Sam Barrott - Hull City v Leicester
« on: Sat 09 Mar 2024 22:26 »
Having finally seen the highlights I can now comment on the big decisions during this game. The 1st penalty for me is soft but can see why he gave it from where he was as it looked like the Leicester player pushed him. The 2nd penalty i don't think there can be any real complaint as it was a penalty given the defender trips him even if the leicester player is waiting for contact. The Hull players 1st yellow is correct as he was stopping a promising attack however for me the decision not to send him off for blocking the free kick is wrong and he doesn't help himself by looking as if he's going to get the card out and then doesn't. However, this is the 1st time in the last few months that he's had a bad performance from what i've seen and heard. The thing to remember is that referees will ineveitably have bad performances as they are human but the best refs are the ones who only have a few of those a season for example Michael Oliver who rarely has a bad game.

A afternoon for Sam

Judging by your previous posts it is obvious that you are someone who only posts when a referee has a bad peformance and never when they have done good. I haven't seen the game so can't comment on it but to say a performance was pathetic is to far and also to call him a bottlejob is also bad. Please try and be more constructive in your criticism instead of just slating the referee all the time.

Non Footy Appointments / Re: Six Nations 2024

Unfortunately Luke Pearce has had to replace Pierre Brousset as referee for Ireland vs Italy as he hasn't recovered from the injury he sustained a few weeks ago.

Because it's a foul play incident and so if they deem it a straight red after review then he can be given a longer suspension than an ordinary 2nd yellow

Pierre Brousset has been replaced by Nika Amashukeli as assistant in the Italy vs England game so there is a good chance he will also be replaced in the Ireland vs Italy game to.

Good decision to give the goal as Diaz just stood his ground and the goalkeeper fell over.

For me both red card decisions are correct with the 1st one being totally out of control and nowhere near the ball. The 2nd one is correct although haven't seen the 1st yellow but if your on a booking then it is definitely a 2nd yellow. In regards to the penalties, the only one that's correct is the 1st Sheffield Utd one which is pretty clear cut. The 2nd one for them I don't think is a penalty as he doesn't really catch the Sheffield Utd player. The West Ham one is definitely a penalty as he gets rugby tackled to the ground and the defender isn't even looking at the ball.

General Discussion / Re: Chelsea v Fulham: Anthony Taylor
« on: Sat 13 Jan 2024 23:54 »
Having seen the highlights, Gusto is lucky not to be sent off as the point of contact is studs on ankle and does not win the ball either. I also think it's a penalty as the defender has slid in and caught Sterling.

Having seen the highlights, the penalty is incorrect for me as the Coventry player clearly wins the ball although it did look a penalty in real time so can understand why he gave it. The red card was absolutely spot on, the Leicester player was out of control and made contact with excessive force which caused the Coventry player to flip.
