Anyone know why Will Finnie hasn’t appeared since his Wembley Play-Off game ? Injury perhaps ?

Gavin Ward will need to be in two places at once !

Anyone know what’s happened to Will Finnie ?

General Discussion / Re: Anthony Taylor- Man Utd v Arsenal

So another “easy game” for Taylor (United v Arsenal) - which is exactly what some here were saying after that other recent low key classic,  City v Liverpool 😂. Why not give the ref some credit in these circumstances?

I think the comment above about the good spirit between the players says it all. That doesn’t just happen randomly.

9 out 30 games this season for AT which have ended with either 0 or 1 cards. He’s clearly getting an amazing run of “easy” games - like that traditionally benign fixture of City v Liverpool 😉

Initial reaction was what you’d expect - shock, disbelief, concern etc. That seems to be receding a bit though - some eye catching loan signings from Europe and Rooney making all the right noises locally, and calling us “Argyle” already which is crucial.

Of course, not a ball kicked yet. It’s worth noting that the bookies rated only Oxford as more likely to be relegated even before he arrived, and that we survived only on the last day of last season. So expectations are not high in any event.

We move on…

Might he be promoted from FO - after James Bell’s injury last night ?

Bearing in mind the leniency later dished out for the offence Charlie mentions, a yellow for Scarr would have at least been consistent IMHO.

I thought Mr Bell missed a clear yellow for Wilson for a “professional” trip from behind at 0-2.   He gave the free kick but not the card.  Accrington were clearly aggrieved and I think rightly so.

I suspect Accrington fans won’t be happy with him. But the two yellows that led to the sending off both seemed fair to me.

Cup Appointments / Re: EFL Cup [Carabao Cup] - 2022/2023

Mr Breakspear managed the only cards clean sheet of the evening on Tuesday!

Two card-free games in a row for AM. Achieving that in a London Derby semi-final (albeit League Cup) is impressive, particularly with all the VAR controversies last night.

His foul detection was erratic and at times non-existent. It takes something to get fans annoyed in unison at one of those games, but he managed it with aplomb.

Exactly the same today , I thought he was rubbish but at least rubbish fairly lol .  Good cup tie good luck for the rest of the season .

Cheers and although Kitchen wasn’t responsible for either goal, Hardie was well offside in the build-up to the first and the ball was about 5 inches outside the corner quadrant for the second.

We didn’t defend either situation well enough, but sometimes you also need a bit of help from elsewhere when playing a team from a higher league.

A good number of Houghton’s corners were from outside the quadrant and Hardie was clearly offside in the first goal build up.
We were on the wrong side of a couple of pretty clear corner and throw in calls, but no issue with any of the yellows from my green-tinted seat.
I thought Kitchen tried  to keep the game flowing but that was obviously at the expense of letting a few fouls go. I suspect he won’t have been particularly happy watching it back later on.

For the record, Mr Busby did Luton -v- Bristol City in the Championship at the end of last season, so it’s not actually his first. That was a zero cards game.

Noted. Any idea who’s replacing DW at Gillingham tomorrow ?

Not a great camera angle, but Breakspear decided to overturn his own linesman's offside call to give AFC Wimbledon a lead v Plymouth. Apparently his view was better?!

I think you mean Portsmouth.

I rarely criticise refs these days, but James Bell had a poor day at HP on Saturday, which started even before the game : https://www.footballinsider247.com/hackett-blasts-unprofessional-bell-after-big-sunderland-reveal/
