General Discussion / Re: QPR v Plymouth Tony Harrington

Bearing in mind the leniency later dished out for the offence Charlie mentions, a yellow for Scarr would have at least been consistent IMHO.

I thought Mr Bell missed a clear yellow for Wilson for a “professional” trip from behind at 0-2.   He gave the free kick but not the card.  Accrington were clearly aggrieved and I think rightly so.

I suspect Accrington fans won’t be happy with him. But the two yellows that led to the sending off both seemed fair to me.

Cup Appointments / Re: EFL Cup [Carabao Cup] - 2022/2023

Mr Breakspear managed the only cards clean sheet of the evening on Tuesday!

Two card-free games in a row for AM. Achieving that in a London Derby semi-final (albeit League Cup) is impressive, particularly with all the VAR controversies last night.

His foul detection was erratic and at times non-existent. It takes something to get fans annoyed in unison at one of those games, but he managed it with aplomb.

Exactly the same today , I thought he was rubbish but at least rubbish fairly lol .  Good cup tie good luck for the rest of the season .

Cheers and although Kitchen wasn’t responsible for either goal, Hardie was well offside in the build-up to the first and the ball was about 5 inches outside the corner quadrant for the second.

We didn’t defend either situation well enough, but sometimes you also need a bit of help from elsewhere when playing a team from a higher league.

A good number of Houghton’s corners were from outside the quadrant and Hardie was clearly offside in the first goal build up.
We were on the wrong side of a couple of pretty clear corner and throw in calls, but no issue with any of the yellows from my green-tinted seat.
I thought Kitchen tried  to keep the game flowing but that was obviously at the expense of letting a few fouls go. I suspect he won’t have been particularly happy watching it back later on.

For the record, Mr Busby did Luton -v- Bristol City in the Championship at the end of last season, so it’s not actually his first. That was a zero cards game.

Noted. Any idea who’s replacing DW at Gillingham tomorrow ?

Not a great camera angle, but Breakspear decided to overturn his own linesman's offside call to give AFC Wimbledon a lead v Plymouth. Apparently his view was better?!

I think you mean Portsmouth.

I rarely criticise refs these days, but James Bell had a poor day at HP on Saturday, which started even before the game : https://www.footballinsider247.com/hackett-blasts-unprofessional-bell-after-big-sunderland-reveal/

If you allow cup matches, then Tom Bramall wins this season with 3 in a row. Only one since though.
David Webb and Dean Whitestone have consecutive league clean sheets, and there’s  a few more “cup doubles”, including Lee Mason.

Check if I missed any please!

no you didn't

Lower down the leagues, Geoff Eltringham's move to 4th Official at Bramall Lane will presumably mean a change for Bradford -v- Bolton.

Re Argyle pen not given - I heard it was thought it hit Watts in the armpit. But I was equally resigned. On the flip side, Mayor seemed to be pushed over in the box near the end, but no evidence of a VAR review.

Gillet’s live verdict in a strong Aussie accent made me think for a moment I was watching an umpire review in a test match !

What is the collective noun for a group of Darrens ? Three of them at Middlesbrough. Is there possibly a fourth who could have been appointed to get the full house ?

Surely it's a Can(n) of Darrens ?

Kettle did manage one, Mr Lewes.
Atkinson going for the card-free hat-trick tomorrow !

15
Good game for Jones - seems to have been a Covid outbreak at Newcastle so hope it's not postponed!

Atkinson sensible choice for NLD - I wonder if that's the first time he and Kavanagh have worked together since the Wolves-Man Utd FA Cup game when Atkinson was reportedly unhappy with Kavanagh's decision to overrule him?

Marriner gets first PL game with fans returning.

I agree good appointment ,for Rob Jones thou as things are regards Covid with Newcastle may well be postponed which would be had look for him

Mat - are you using a Geordie spellchecker ?  ;)
