Who is Dale Johnson, and why is he regarded as the oracle on here??

Ex ESPN now BBC does a lot of sensible VAR reviews and seems to be very much in the know

Thank you 👍

.....about eight minutes from full time there was a collision between a Palace forward and Sunderland defender Omar Alderete which ended up with our defender injured.I sit behind the North Stand goal where the incident occurred and whilst it looked like a flailing arm or hand it was purely unintentional when the contact came.

Alderete lay on the pitch for a few seconds and the referee waved on our physio however what happened then was the player got up and pointed at his lower jaw and cheek area where the contact had taken place and he didn't need treatment.

The referee insisted he had a head injury and made him leave the field of play even though he jogged off without any assistance however this left us one man down for thirty seconds.

What a silly CORRECT thing to do by the referee.

Altered that for you 👍

One thing I find frustrating with Stuart Atwell's performances is the way he flashes the yellow card to a player without looking at them!  We correctly talk about respecting the referee, but to my mind this is the referee disrespecting the player.
Contrast this with Simon Hooper's practice of pointing towards the player he is cautioning. This also avoids ambiguity as to whom is being cautioned.

And perhaps like pantomime villains, the better they do their job, the louder the booing.

Oh no it isn't!!!

Too much purple around today…

Needed more sunshine yellow for the end of summer :-)

Nobody seems to be mentioning Trossard's (sp?) lack of a yellow card when he was lucky he didn't catch anyone with one of the dummies he threw out of his pram when he didn't get a free kick after being gently brushed against.

My only comment on this is why did wolves have a goal ruled out last season against West Ham for a very similar incident ?

Different referee,  different AR, Different VAR?

Decisions should be made by a referee based on what they see, or is drawn to their attention in a game. What has happened in the past is totally irrelevant!!!!!

I thought Graham Poll was a good referee, though he seemed to have a "questionable" personality

Again we're criticising Sam for not giving an on-field decision when a couple of weeks ago he was criticised for making an early decision and not allowing VAR to  bail him out.
Make your mind up folks :-)

"Timber goes over the top of the ball in a stamping motion, doesn’t play any of the ball, catches the spurs player high above the ankle."

Take your white-tinted glasses off!!
He placed his foot on the top of the ball, and rolled with the ball.

Edited to fix the quote thingamajigga, bmb
