Has Backhouse taken charge of a full Championship game? Remember him replacing Geoff Eltringham at some stage of Stoke v Ipswich in 2018 & he replaced Andy Davies at HT of Wigan v Blackpool earlier this season.

MST refs with 2 games over this period except - 😱 - Simpson who has 3. He also has a 4th appointment on Boxing Day which means he is out on 26th, 27th, 29th and 1st.
Good to see Anthony Backhouse on an SG2 game again; maybe this time he can push on and get a more permanent place

Simpson is 4th on both 26th and 27th (am guessing to a SG1 on 27th) so he is "only" reffing 2 games
