Wooo! I didn't see Scott Oldham coming and a fairly crucial game towards the top of the Championship as well. I wish him well.

I'd say a replacement for Linington.

No disrespect, but I personally think that's doubtful. OK, James Linington may well have been earmarked for the game at Sunderland before he picked up an injury last weekend, but I am sure the appointing people would have just juggled round the SG2 referees to ensure an experienced SG2 was appointed to this key game at the Stadium of Light, if necessary (in view of SG2 absences) bringing in the likes of Oldham or Welch on the less crucial games.

I did comment a fee weeks ago that he was getting some good appointments.

I think Bond may have been pencilled in for it…. He is regularly with Philip Dermott.

With SG1 a little undermanned with Oliver and Harrington out of action I think Bond was moved up to cover this.

Surely this appointment was always going to Scott Oldham - if he was a replacement, surely Martin would’ve moved from 4th to ref with Oldham on the boards?

Whatever the circumstances, I wish him well. Many of his SG2 colleagues have been rather poor at the SoL so I’ll be astonished if he’s the worst ref we’ve had this season!

I dearly wish him well, but similar to Welch a few weeks ago - in such a crucial game?! Luton have not had their fair share of luck with refereeing decisions in the last month or so - the Sharp/Lockyer incident spoiling an admittedly almost flawless performance from Leigh Doughty on Saturday.

Oli Langford appeared correct in calling off Rotherham. Howard Webb watching his local team
I'm sure I saw Phil Gibbs too - is he a match delegate at SG2 level or is he a referee coach?

Totally agree regarding Langford - always a tricky decision and clearly managers were trying to get the game back on. Fair play to him for taking the correct call despite pressure.
