Interesting that a number of referees have both a middle and 4th duty on the opening weekend whereas six dont feature at all - Bell, Welch, Whitestone, Doughty, Eltrincham and Simpson.
Linington starts the season with 2 4O official appointments on the back of spending most of the latter half of last season doing similar duties which included 10 in succession for some hitherto unexplained reason.
Welch is currently at the Olympics so will probably have a break before starting the season. Bell, Doughty Eltringham and Whitestone all feature in the League Cup midweek. Simpson is the only SG2 absent from all fixtures in any role. Martin and Linington yet to have middles but active as 4O
