Disappointing to see Stroud get the opener after the play-off game last season.

The SG2 list has half been updated for the new season - https://www.efl.com/clubs-and-competitions/match-officials/select-group-two-officials/select-group-2-match-officials/

I say half because the new people have been added but Jones/England are still on the list - their attempts at doing it alphabetically aren't fully successful either! How hard can it be to put a list of names together?!

James Adcock isn't on it.

As per last season, James Linington is still not listed.

This seems to have been sorted now although James Linington appears to be shy of appearing on camera. As suggested, James Adcock has dropped off the SG2 list and it seems as though he will concentrate his efforts in the FL which, given the length of time he has been out of action with injury, is perhaps not surprising. A pity if this is the case as he was one of the better refs when he was fit and deserved his place on the SG2 list.

Also the last part of Michael Salisbury's profile is a copy and paste effort from Josh Smith.

Watched Jarred Gillett for the third time today - he put in a very solid performance and for me, he is one the best of the current SG2. For me, he should be getting more and more exposure in the PL.

He let a lot go, played advantages at the right time and didn't make any critical errors.

Instead of starting a thread on a specific referee which probably no one has seen as it isn't live on sky/bt, probably best to just add a comment about the relevant SG2 game in the weekly appointments.

Geoff Eltringham (Huddersfield v Norwich) missed two fairly clear penalties,oh for VAR! which after the game he apologised to the Norwich manager for missing and also failing to give Cantwell a red (only a yellow) for leading with his elbow, thankfully no VAR!

It's so good to be back in the Championship!

Amen to that!

I didn't watch the AFCB game - it clashed with the NBI & I have my priorities! No mention on Twitter or the forums anywhere about the ref and no-one has yelled at me over a decision. I'm assuming he turned up or that may have been noticed so I can only assume Mr Ward didn't upset the home crowd. In fact the only mention of the match officials at all has been comments on Bhupinder Gill being Jarnail Singh's son & what a better official he appears to be than his dad!! Followed by a host of do you remember such and such a game where his dad had an absolute shocker!

Enjoy the season carrowman

Are you sure that your friends are not conflating the two ex-FL referees' named Singh?  In my experience (I worked with both) Jarnail was much better than his namesake.

Jeremy Simpson's decision to book Jacob Brown for simulation yesterday in the Stoke game was ridiculous.

Yes we know them apart. Jarnail saved all his dreadful games for Dean Court - it was not a happy ground for him.

Seems like he has started the new season as he finished the old one (and the previous one, and the previous one etc etc)

Unusual incident at Pride Park.  The first time the ball went out of play at the start of the second half Darren Bond went over to talk to his fourth official Ollie Langford as Derby had brought on a substitute at half time without informing the officials.  The player, Nathan Byrne, was duly summoned and cautioned. Byrne was making his debut for Derby having joined from Wigan a few days earlier so received a yellow card in the first minute of his debut for the club.

I have seen a comment on line saying the yellow card was incorrect in law but I am not certain if that is correct.

The yellow card was incorrect:

Law 3.5
If a substitution is made during the half-time interval or before extra time, the procedure must be completed before the match restarts.  If the referee is not informed, the named substitute may continue to play, no disciplinary action is taken and the matter is reported to the appropriate authorities.

Oh dear, very bad for a professional referee to be getting that wrong!
