General Discussion / Re: Referee Manager Game
« on: Sun 15 Mar 2026 19:32 »
For interaction purposes, what are our best moments on this game so far?

So far, Kavanagh has been slammed by managers twice (not physically, just in the media!) and Sam Barrott is flying on the merit table, with Kavanagh, Davies and Howard taking the crown in my VAR Merit tables!

Tom Bramall put in a 96/100 performance in his first game of the season.

Sam Barrott also put in a great performance and got immediately injured for 5 games 😅.

Great game to play so far. Enjoying it.

Rob Jones got 2 100/100 performances in mine, got injured in the 2nd one for 3 games, then somehow made a lazarus recovery in time to be able to be appointed to the Manchester Derby the next week where he then got injured for 5 games, and this time he has sadly not recovered!

A few issues and pointers:

None of the games are simulating, ive been appointing but unfortunately am unable to actually play the games that im appointing refs to.

Also, our own saves can be accessed by anyone because the save files are public. If you made these private/email address specific then we wouldn't be disrupting each others progress.

Finally, once of course you have the time to update the game further, theres some other officials you can add to the database, those being:
Alex Chilowicz (VAR only)
Peter Wright (VAR only)
Con Hatzadakis (VAR only)

All of the above is under the umbrella of the bones of a fantastic game are there, with the above tweaks and im sure some other minor hiccups addressed you'll have a great game that really deals with a hole in the market right now.

A mistake is a mistake. Deal with it. We all get them. Kirk is a superb referee.

General Discussion / Re: Paul Tierney - Chelsea vs Newcastle

I may be down voted here, but Tierney not knowing what to do isn’t rare….

Every single one of them should be yellowed. You cannot just trap a match official in a huddle. Absolutely ridiculous carry on.

The following is under the umbrella of Liverpool didnt deserve anything from this game and that the result very much reflected both teams' performances.

That has to be one of the worst performances in a long time from Gil Mazano.

Firstly, Galas 2nd goal shouldn't have been disallowed. A generational mess up at the back which the offside player had absolutely no impact. Terrible from VAR.

Then Liverpool categorically shouldn't have had their goal disallowed. The official reasoning from VAR was that it went into the goal straight off Konates arm, which is factually incorrect. It deflects off about 3 other players before ending in.the goal. And even if it came off Konates hand again before going in the goal, there is absolutely no angles that show that, so how the goal was disallowed is a mystery.

All of the above coupled with random foul detection, player reactions being used to judge on yellow cards as well as some dreadful free kick signalling in the box made it an extremely poor performance for Mazano. Given the talent in the UEFA pool, he shouldn't been seen again in this competition this season.

On a side note, Spanish refereeing really isn't in a good way. Sanchez Martinez is bang average, with his sending to the World Cup being a token political gesture as performances really haven't warranted it. I do like Hernandez, the new Elite referee, so i really hope he can continue his good form, as the 2 above him really are not good enough to be Spains leading referees.
Wasn’t the greatest performance by the officials or Liverpool, but wasn’t the goal disallowed for handball by Van Dijk, not Konate?

Apparently not. Thats what I assumed and what would make more sense (even though it actually doesn't touch his arm), commentators on 2 different feeds i had access to (TNT and I think the world feed) both said that they had been told it was for Konate, which is just wrong.

This is worse than Mazano earlier, its actually strange how random the whistling is.

He needs to take a breath and assess before blowing because its been shambolic so far.

Bankes at Burnley is giving replacement energy, if he is appointed to the final (which he deserves 100%) then i would bet my house on him being a replacement for Gillett (injury or otherwise) which would also explain the appointments delay yesterday. Especially since his usual team is with Kirk at SOL.

I wonder if this is an underlying reason why the appointments for the coming weekend are not yet out.

10am tomorrow 👍🏼

Any reason for the change? Or nothing of note.

I have no idea

We should also get the Carabao Cup final appointments tomorrow, with the team getting a a lower-profile game as a trial run together (traditionally this has been the case). Do we all think Gillett or has anyone any last wildcards?

From the Premier League alone the out of action officials are as follows:

John Brooks
Robert Jones
Simon Hooper
Tony Harrington
Michael Salisbury
Darren Bond
Dan Robathan
Sian Massey-Ellis
Natalie Aspinall (currently returning)
Nick Hopton

Unknown
Craig Pawson (absent from all appointments this week)
Jarred Gillett (looks as if replaced)

Quite the crisis, so id expect to see Kirk in this weeks appointments considering he is nowhere to be seen the rest.

LISTED EDITED TUESDAY 10TH MARCH

Guida Italy number 1. Could he go to WC?
Hes already confirmed to be attending as a VAR so he won't be on field at all. Mariani is almost certain to go.

The problem we have is pgmol guidance that only holding that is impactful results in a foul given, this just encourages players to keep holding rather than eradicating it.

If you to prevent holding in the penalty area then dont condone it simples !!

I remember back to the 2018 World Cup. The 1st time we saw VAR properly. Every slightest thing that involved any grabbing or holding, fleeting or prolonged, was continuously given as a penalty kick. It was harsh, but come the end of the group stages no one was even trying their luck in the box. Going back to this, at least in the short-term, just to knock some sense into players, is imo the best way to fix the problem.

2 arsenal counter attacks stopped as well by whistling too early

The 1st one ball was still in Raya's hands so i had sympathy.

The second one was a bad one i can't defend him on that, a bit too safe from England.

And here we go again.....

Did he really have to blow?
