Never been convinced by Harrington no where near good enough for the premier league imo and barely for sg2 , I think he’s a run of the mill national list referee . Always has a controversial decision in him and I think he enjoys the limelight a bit too much . Today was a pretty standard performance from him I will leave it to others if they think that standard is good enough.
Very unfair opinion on his general performances imo. He was the best referee before he got injured last year and was getting consistent TV games/ good games from September to November. He's also been very good since he's returned this season, however his last 2 have clearly left a lot to be desired. However the above comments on his general showings are not warranted.

Hasn't been reported by the media yet but Ms Welch has been subject to misogynistic abuse on X this evening following her decision to award Bristol City a last gasp penalty vs Huddersfield which resulted in them scoring an equaliser. It was clearly the wrong call, however the disgusting posts of the keyboard warriors on X are horrible. I won't attach the posts as they don't belong here but they are truly horrific.

What a first half by letexier.excellent communication and not getting swayed by the fans.very promising young ref who could be a top elite in the not so distant future
He's been brilliant throughout. France have two of Europe's best now with him and Turpin who has vastly came on too.

No way that's a penalty and the Doku one among others isn't.
Really fearing about consistency in this title race.

Baffling and for me a wrong decision, but when is O Neil going to be punished for his comments. Week in Week out he shouts bile about referees!?
Nothing below the belt this week, everything he said was true and not unacceptable

What do we think of the offside decision at the end.to me it looks like wolves might see another apology off Howard Webb
They deserve one. Absolutely scandalous decision, as quoted per Gary Oniell. Shambolic. Robinson and Harrington should be subjected to at least 1 week off completely. It shows a complete lack of understanding of football all around. Moyes says its dreadful, ONiell says its woeful, Fabianski says its wrong. Therefore it's a horrific call.
That's not how it works though, is it? Standing in front of a keeper in an offside position like that has for as long as I can remember nearly always been called offside, which it also is by the letter of the law. I can't even phantom Howard Webb giving them anything close to an apology for this one. I do absolutely understand that Wolves are frustated, I would likely also be if I was in their situation, but we have to look at what the rule says and how it's been applied constantly for years, and therefore offside is absolutely the correct call in this situation
Key fact here, Fabianskis view isn't being blocked by the offside player and the ball doesn't get played into an area within reach of the offside player. This decision has shattered Wolves hopes of a chance of a lifetime in Europe next year, and Webb must apologise and take action.

Rare from Brooks, he's been very poor. Over 50 minutes in the 1st half he's managed to peeve off both sets of fans, players and sidelines due to his random and delayed decision making. He looks completely at sea sadly. As I said, this is a rarity as whenever I've seen him he's always been excellent. Here's hope he improves in the 2nd half because disappointingly it hasn't been good so far.

Although, at least it was technically a suitable colour, unlike many others wearing same as one GK for some unfathomable reason. England wearing black at Man City (yellow /orange suitable) and Scott wearing yellow (!) at Bournemouth, with orange available.
YELLOW IS NEVER SUITABLE!!!!!!!

The only thing I cussed him out on was the vile rag he wore.
There are 3 other shirts he could have worn but some incompetent at the PGMOL chose the one that clashed the most. Utterly ridiculous as well as vile. Sort it out Howard!
Puma is coming in 2025, so we might have these kits for another year rather than making a new batch for 1 year.

Based off of Olivers extremely high standards that's a very poor referral from him.
It takes a series set of cohonas to do what Madley done, especially with Oliver in the Booth.

I thought overall Taylor did well - in a game of this magnitude, you just don't want the referee to be blamed for a decision that changes a game, and he did well not to fall for some of the theatrics in the penalty area.
I do think we were lucky not to get a couple of players cautioned - Jesus early on a clear example, although you could equally make the case a City player slid in late on to deliberately stop a counter and wasn't booked too. Taylor clearly set out to not flash the cards, which he got away with because he is Anthony Taylor whose reputation and experience allows him to do that. I think bar Oliver, any other SG referee who tried this approach would have really struggled.
Very dull game, and a bit of an anti-climax, but I'll take the point!
I agree with much of what you say, he was certainly consistent in not awarding yellow cards to both sides although (perhaps naturally) I thought there was only one candidate challenge for a yellow card by City against five for Arsenal. (The two yellow cards given were of players saying "please book me" in my view). A foul count of 16 against Arsenal against 4 against City at the 70th minute is quite telling (evened up a bit later as City perhaps wearied of being kicked). I will never understand the semi-amnesty against cards in the early stages of a game and Jesus on Bernardo was, to me a clear yellow card at any time in any game at any level.
Surely the best management is to set the expectations early in the game and stick to them.
There was particular period of five minutes between the 50th and 55th minute where there were 4 fouls awarded against Arsenal. Mostly there were of the "professional foul" type intending to break up attacking moves. But that only tells part of the story, between 51.45 and 51.50 there were three "never mind the ball, lets get on with the game" challenges for the first two "advantage" was played despite the ball being effectively a "hospital" pass to a City player who was clobbered as soon as the ball arrived. Even after the third challenge no card appeared. If the referee looks back on that few minutes he might well come out in a cold sweat thinking what could have happened if one of those challenges had resulted in serious injury or if City had retaliated in style when he would have almost certainly have lost control of the game. City players deserve credit for not responding in type.
As I understand it the notion that a referee not issuing cards is to let the game flow. In this case it has had the exact opposite effect allowing Arsenal to break up play with impunity and contributing to a "Very dull game"
For all that no mention of the City players surrounding the referee on numerous occasions and waving their hands showing the number of fouls (similar to waving the imaginary card). To cap it off mention of the "professional foul breaking up attacking play" of which City are the masters of.
As with others above I agree he was too lenient in not awarding YCs for blatant YC offences. Whereas in other matches similar incidents would receive a YC and the offending player would then have to watch out for any subsequent foul of offence for the rest of the game potentially leading to a 2YC. Why should one match be refereed by "managing the game" and yet others aren't?
Because he consistently stuck to his plan for the full 94 minutes. Others deviate about an hour in and then lose respect or the plot!
