Nothing to do in the first half.
Dreadful second half, not sure what changed at half time. Foul detection became completely random and starting throwing cards around like it’s nearly Christmas!
Carranza booked for being fouled. Phillips and Vestegaard booked for well timed tackles. Fatawu booked for dissent, which would be supportable if he hadn’t already let much worse dissent go by earlier in the game.
Good spot for the Monga simulation though, to end on a positive!

Horrendous from Salisbury to give a free kick because the crowd appealed and somehow AR2 has managed to miss a simple offside straight after.
As usual, we complain about VAR, but when it’s not in use, it shows how poor our officials are.

Interesting one in this game, Jones missed an incident involving Brooks and Cucurella, Brooks has successfully stopped Cucurella breaking off the ball with an arm across his neck/chest area. VAR Scott has sent Jones to the screen for a potential red card, with the end result being a yellow for Brooks.
Whilst I think yellow was just about right and therefore common sense prevails, is Jones actually allowed to issue a yellow card in this situation? It was my belief that a review has to result in a red card or stick with the initial decision? Genuinely not sure on this one so happy to be enlightened!

Inexcusable decision not to send off Joao Pedro for violent conduct, Madley should have seen it, how VAR haven’t intervened is unbelievable.
Evidently as there was no contact it cannot be a red card. Intent is not a red card offence nowadays.
However, it was a stupid act of petulance from Joao Pedro and he was damn lucky there was no contact.
In law it’s a clear red card, there may be directives from the powers that be, but they’d be wrong in law. The key quote from law is ‘regardless of whether contact is made’.

Red card for Souttar obviously correct. The red for Mepham is wrong for me, the touch from the attack is significantly away from goal that it cannot be an obvious goal scoring opportunity. I believe Ward has realised he could have played advantage and then cautioned later, but instead has blown early and then felt obliged to show red.

Very interesting one, probably depends on what the offside on-field was a given for really. If it was given against Archer then Jones should have been sent to the screen to determine Armstrong’s involvement, if it was given against Armstrong I can understand staying with the on-field decision. I might add, that had the on-field call been onside, I would also expect them to stick with this.

I agree Tim and team didn't have the best afternoon, but no major mistakes.
Got several minor decisions wrong early on, throw ins given the wrong way, an obvious corner to Leicester given as a goal kick but nothing major incorrect. Phillips was lucky to only receive a yellow card for a late elbow charge into the head of a Leicester player towards the end of the first half. His second caution was an obvious reckless challenge so no choice for Tim.
Penalty shout for Ipswich was the correct call for me, looked like Chaplin threw himself into the Leicester player, certainly not enough for VAR to overturn.
Correct call not to award a foul in the build up to the Leicester goal too, Soumare just too strong for both Ipswich players.

When the ball leaves the quadrant it is live and there was interference with the goal keeper while the ball was moving, therefore why wasn't a free kick to the defence be awarded for goal keeper interference ? The offside business is a red herring. If I was a Wolves supporter I would feel very aggrieved but then debatable decisions always seem to be given to the top clubs.
What do you mean by goal keeper interference? Assuming you mean Bernardo has fouled the goalkeeper, and of course it’s a matter of opinion, but for me there is no foul. Bernardo does not have to move out of the way of the goalkeeper, the contact is minimal and just as much initiated by Sa as Bernardo.

Absolutely the correct call at the end in my opinion. Seems to be a complete lack of understanding by the Sky Sports team as usually as well.
I believe what has happened is Bramall has given offside on field, albeit late following a discussion with Kavanagh. VAR has recommended a review, during which Kavanagh has recognised Bernardo is clearly not interfering with Sa, and therefore not committing any offence.
Sky Sports mentioning the nudge by Bernardo on Sa prior to the header, but obviously this is irrelevant as he cannot be offside before the header occurs and it’s clearly not a foul.

i think the vardy decision was about right as he has previous in getting centre backs booked whilst it's often he who instigates the contact - straight from the alan shearer book of how-to-be a centre forward...
Not sure you can really justify an incident in this game based on the player's ‘previous’. Following that logic, you could say Barrott got it wrong because Saliba has previously been overly physical and pulled back a centre forward, therefore this occasion must have been a foul. This particular incident was a foul. What went on in games historically is irrelevant.

Probably should have been a foul on Vardy in the build up to the Arsenal goal, he’s clearly pulled back.
Califiori clearly should have received a SYC, perhaps the pressure of sending off an Arsenal player for the 3rd week in a row got to Barrott?
Skipp could (should) also have have gone late on for a SYC, but Barrott instead played a strange advantage when one wasn’t really there and therefore couldn’t caution Skipp (was a SPA incident).
In all honesty, I don’t think I’ve actually seen Barrott have a good game when I’ve watched him live. He’s very inconsistent with his decision making and issuing of cards. I’m sure he must have plenty of good games to be SG1 already, maybe I’ll catch one eventually!!

Michael Oliver should have allowed to let Walker get back into position before free kick was taken. Created all the problems for the rest of the game his self
Generally would agree with this. However, Walker is back in line with the other defenders and looking at the ball before the kick is taken. He also could have made much more of an effort to get there faster if he wanted to.

The handball should stay with the on field decision, whatever that happened to be. There is clearly not enough evidence to say whether it is or isn’t handball and therefore VAR shouldn’t be getting involved.
However, that is not the case with the Joelinton incident who clearly should have seen red. Coote should have identified this without VAR as he is looking straight at it, but for VAR to not then intervene is not acceptable. That could have caused Neto a serious injury, ticks the boxes for VC or SFP.

Overall I thought he was very good. Missed a yellow for SPA for Carvajal in the first half. Yellow card for Watkins was harsh. Time keeping needs to improve, the ball was in play for just under 2 minutes in the additional time and he still blew up before the minimum 4!
We will certainly see him take charge of many more finals in the future.
