It's very unlike Emery in his defence. Can't remember ever seeing him act like that. He's not one to go out onto the pitch and applaud the fans etc but he always shakes hands before heading down the tunnel. I can only assume he was very disappointed with Villa's performance and the total capitulation on the pitch. I expect he will have been and apologised in the dressing room post match.
My favourite part of his post-match quote was that he didn't want to wait for the handshake because it was cold...he'd been out there for ~50 mins so I'm quite sure he could've waited another 10 seconds for Arteta to make his way over!!

A very mediocre performance for me. Started fairly weakly and thought Villa in particular were playing him. Time keeping was a major issue in the first half where only 3 minutes were added when it ought to have been double. At least this was correctly managed in the second half. Agree that Merino shouldve gone for the pull back on Rogers. And then there was a VAR overturn for the 3rd goal.

I believe there's nothing in Law for this specific situation. It only references the impacts from the ball touching the referee. Since Donohue didn't touch the ball, there's nothing in Law requiring him to stop the game.
I think it's just one of those unfortunate things that happens. Maybe upon reflection both will wish they had a greater sense of spacial awareness.

Will be the third season in a row that Taylor has got Arsenal v Liverpool, and he will have done 4 of the last 5 meetings between them. Funny how it plays out sometimes.
Is that the first time Hatzidakis is the lead VAR? I see Attwell is there for support.

I would be stunned if both Taylor and Oliver didn't go. For me, the only reason they wouldn't would be political, as on merit they are both comfortably in the top bracket of that UEFA list.

He had a perfect view for the handball, so if he did get that wrong its a really bad mistake (and very costly to Bournemouth , as it turned out)

Admittedly a small sample size, but hes impressed every time Ive watched him. I suspect hell have considerably more games in the second half of the season.
