General Discussion / Re: Sam Barrott Forest v Spurs
« on: Sun 14 Dec 2025 21:40 »
Hey RustyRef, your guess would be wrong; it is well known I am a Forest fan, but on this, I was looking at it from a referee's perspective, with reactions from players, coaches, and my opinion as a referee from my own VAR room. Even though Forest won, I can't say he was as your mate said he was. If I went and put in that performance personally next week, I would have a complaint from the Teams to the league, but that is the difference between amateur and pro football. But again hope he has a better game next time.

General Discussion / Sam Barrott Forest v Spurs
« on: Sun 14 Dec 2025 18:19 »
For those who weren't watching Sunderland v Newcastle, I refer you to this match. Sam Barrott was the man in the middle, or was he? For three quarters of this match, you would actually think he was just a spectator on the pitch dressed in black, to the dismay of both teams. Free kicks and corner kicks that they should have been awarded weren't. I think it just wasn't his day today. I'm sure he will come back strong next time.

Euros 2024 / Re: Michael Oliver - Spain vs Croatia
« on: Sun 16 Jun 2024 11:32 »
Let’s not get ahead of ourselves all of the Oliver fans on here.

He didn’t have the best of games. As a referee when you see the attacker has only got the gk to beat and Rodri takes out your back leg with none of the ball in view then it’s a deliberate foul and red card. None of this attempt to play the ball as it was not in view of the defender. So it shouldn’t have been a yellow

He was very random in his foul detection, even given fouls that wasn’t which is very unlike him.

First 15 minutes or so you couldn’t get him to move out the centre circle which again is very unlike him and Dan Cook put his flag up for an offside which was clearly on.

Going back to the encroaching this is always tricky to spot in real time especially when near you so var was right to overrule this.

Cup Appointments / Re: Emirates FA Cup 2023/2024

There is not a team established as Notts Forest never has been to this present day. Notts County but not Notts Forest

I have not seen what was said on the tweet from forest and i am not excusing it but you cannot  ignore the fact that week in, week out errors are being made against this club. There becomes a point when it is no longer errors and falls beyond ignorance and carelessness on behalf of the referees and var and pgmol and sorry is not good enough anymore. How can three blatant penalties be waved away and checked very quickly and still get it wrong, and yet these are supposed to be four of our very best Officials in Anthony Taylor, Simon Bennett, Dan Robathan, and Stuart Attwell ( 3 i know are Fifa Listed, not too sure on Dan Robathan)

It’s a mixed bag of foul detection, agreed that kluivert should have gone, but booked omobamidele for waving an imaginary yellow in same incident. So Rebecca is probably thinking I’m not sending him off because you tell me too. But in any case he should have gone. But made a good call for the Billing sending off described as a hack down the achilles. I think her fitness is ok and I rate her but I just think today her foul detection and issuing misconduct let her down a bit today.

No fuss, good communication great positioning and was right with the penalty. He gave a great advantage and yes the team said they will have Kavanagh back claretman 😜

Both Assistants were really good as well. I have always rated the 3 officials today and today they were really good.

General Discussion / Re: Rob jones- Forest vs Bournemouth
« on: Tue 26 Dec 2023 18:15 »
Reported that Forest have received an apology from Webb, and club have asked that Jones no longer officiates any game they are involved in, even as a VAR. Sad state of affairs. What can you do? Mistakes have always been part of the game but now they are highlighted in such a manner to be almost detrimental to the game a a whole.

If I was Howard Webb he would be on every other game of theirs for the foreseeable future. No club has the right to ask for a particular referee to be on their games or not. Perhaps refs can start asking for certain players or managers/coaches not to be included in the squad because they always cause issues? Really dislike clubs thinking they can dictate who does or doesn't referee them. It was an error, a bad one but get over it seriously!

No thanks bmb. As a referee and a Forest supporter I can say this if it happened to any other team and I know Wolves have had it happen quite alot to them they would be saying the same thing. This is Rob Jones 2nd error this season with Forest after the game with manchester united this season that's why Forest have had enough. They are fighting to stay in the league without Rob Jones adding to there problems with his errors.

We've had many bad decisions go against us, penalties that were wrong calls but bizarrely didn't meet the clear and obvious criteria, but never have we asked for a referee not to be on our games though. 1 particular now retired referee who always received praise on here - never once saw him have a good game for us, always big errors, every single game, we had many good reasons to have asked for him to be kept away but rightly never did so. Referee error is just that, they are mere human beings, it's impossible for them to be 100% accurate. Players make more errors in 1 game than referees do across a season and they add up to be the most costly thing for any team. If your team go down, it won't be because of 2 errors by Rob Jones, it will be because of the multitude of missed shots, misplaced passes, poor goalkeeping etc.

Totally agree but I also said they didn't want him adding to there problems

I remember Mark Clattenburg was kept away from Everton for quite awhile and Mike Dean on request  from Arsenal if I'm right in the past it happens all the time not just Nottingham Forest

It was a really bad day, he lost control from the point he blew his whistle for the 2nd booking he gave to boly and there was no coming back from that.

How can you.justify making so many calls like this at the top as there was 8 eyes looking at it on field only 2 had an opinion. What is the point of the other 6 eyes that are suppose to matter being there?

Another 6 eyes are watching in the hub and they couldn't get it right either

Apologies forthcoming I expect from pgmol

Yoshimi Yamashita my guess. She opened proceedings and she was taken off the Australia v England game, where she was supposed to be 4th official.

All of you Coote bashers you ought to be ashamed of yourselves. Call yourselves referees!!! It's Disgusting and Disgraceful. I know him personally and let me tell you now the fb page is fake and he is no man u fan. Let a referee enjoy his appointment and start looking at your own games past or present. It's Bullying and needs to be stopped as admins are how long they are letting this go on for too long and encouraging this behaviour is beyond me.

General Discussion / Disability discrimination in football
« on: Mon 31 Oct 2022 10:33 »
With the reintroduction of Bobby Madley to the premier league weekend just gone at Brentford i am one glad he is back and this is coming from a referee that is very much disabled but refuses to give in and wants to lead a normal life as possible. Just to give a bit of insight it is very obvious i am disabled and have been from birth and receive abuse on the pitch in the street on a daily basis but you learn to rise above it and be the better person and sometimes come out with quick one liners that shut the abusers up.

I'm not saying what Bobby did acceptable and i was the first one to criticize him when we found out what he did but he is human and has an unbelievable talent for refereeing he was so good on his return at Brentford. Does he not deserve a second chance?

The FA know how to deal with referees at county and pro level but they have not got a foggiest when it comes to players and that is something they lack on the discrimination front in my experience with refereeing so you just to rise above it as i got told DO NOT ISSUE A RED CARD IF YOU HEAR ANYTHING SAID TOWARDS YOU JUST MOVE TO ANOTHER PART OF THE PITCH SO YOU DON'T HEAR IT, AND IGNORE IT. That is how the county fa dealt with my disability from players.

I think everyone who loves football should be involved in football someway mistakes like his he has been punished for now appreciate his talent on the pitch as you have not got that with some SG1/SG2 refs

In refereeing you are taught only to give penalties that you are 100% sure of and in a position to give. Which both Josh Smith and Craig Taylor never was also if it was Dogso outside then it's Dogso inside, if the interpretation is that he meant to do it and not accidental. But either way there is no defending the error of the KMI.
