As we are on a new page, here is an update:
 7. Glen Nevis Round.
 9. Hamilton, but more composed than Lewis.
14. Should give a good account of himself.
15. Craggy in Edinburgh.
16. Old John had four of them.
18. From the bottom of my pencil case.
20. Bowls, traditionally at least.
24. Did he produce Mr Pooter's son?
25. Was he the recipient of the third bag of wool?
29. One of a pair, I hear.
35. Does he produce tripe from his fourth?

Correct for 7, 14 and 15. Well done.

For 29, think how your Adam Nunn clue worked.

78   Melted cheese? (Sounds like melted cheese)
96   Son of Maine Road (Son of a Maine Road player)

If we took melted as an anagram indicator, Alex Gray would have reversed Yarg (back to its creator's name) but alas his first name starts with A, so that possibility is ruled out. Could this be a different reference to Mr Gratton?

Unfortunately my watching of matches at Maine Road was in the days of Bell, Book (pity they weren't refereed by Ali Kandil) Summerbee, Lee, Doyle and especially the splendid Alan Oakes - and they have not helped at all!

In that case, I give my tongue to the cat, to transliterate the French phrase.

The Pusscat says that Joe Simpson is the son of Paul Simpson (Man. C. 1982-88), Oxford, Derby etc. & now manager at Carlisle

How interesting. I don't know about cats, but I once described young Joe as an eager and excited puppy.
As that was in 2012, he is probably not quite so young now.

To try to tidy up the loose ends:

 9.  Lewis may be the driver, but Hamilton was the conductor.
16. Old John had Four of them in Hants.
18. From the bottom of my pencil case.
20. Bowls, traditionally at least. Nowadays probably plastic.
24. Did he propagate Mr Pooter's son?
25. Was this the destination of the third bag of wool?
29. One of a pair, I hear.
35. Does he produce tripe from his fourth stomach?

To help, or maybe not:

9.  Lewis may be the driver, but Hamilton was the conductor. Michael Flanders knew folk like this, who pretended to hunt with the Quorn

16. Old John had Four of them in Hants. Or more usually nearby Alton

18. From the bottom of my pencil case. Song for Whoever.

20. Bowls, traditionally at least. Nowadays probably plastic. Birnam, teak & driver.

24. Did he propagate Mr Pooter's son? Sounds like Sinding's springtime murmur.

25. Was this the destination of the third bag of wool? If it's a Sheffield sheep, definitely.

29. One of a pair, I hear, but I misinterpreted what I heard. Rhymes with a Sussex bird.

35. Does he produce tripe from his fourth stomach? Contiguous with Simonstone.

First names begin with G, L, Mx3, S and Tx2.

16. Louis Marks, as in Four Marks near Alton, home of that great FL referee John Martin after he left Croydon.
