6. German tin could have been a can of WORMS, but periodically I choose to work symbolically.
Periodic table - Stannous?

9. A deferential courtesy when the waiter presents the tab. You can bask in glory, we hear, when you get this one.
Tip? Revel/WAllow/Glory/Relish?

32. Please leave, Mr Stallone. You need to head West.
Go ? Sly?

39. Westphalian eggs go well with it. Appropriately positioned at 39 for its role in the Endgame.
Essen? oo (eggs)?

Well done. Then there were four, which your suggestions skirt around.

Stannous is on the right lines - I used the word "symbolically". Look elsewhere in your suggestions!

A red and white Athletic connection with Southampton. (Forget the glory bit.)

Try it as Mr Stallone, please leave instead - and prepare to kick yourself.

Simpler than the Hamburg suggestion. Endgame was Beckett's.

Hope that helps.

Very enjoyable - thanks JCFC for your hard work.  What is annoying (well, to me at least) is how many answers are obvious when you know them. (I wrestled for ages with Go and Sly, and never got to Sligo, for example!)

Hope you are planning something else of a similar nature for another time.
