Been a rubbish few seasons for Chris Kavanagh. He had so much potential but injuries etc have ruined him.

After a really bad season last year he needed a better one this season. So far he has only refereed a few games and been pretty poor in them.

SG1 in the FL

Sat 14th Jan 2023

Football League Championship
Referee: Bramall, Thomas
Assistant Referee: Eaton, Derek
Assistant Referee: Meredith, Steven
Fourth Official: Backhouse, Anthony

Sheffield United FC (First Team) v Stoke City FC (First Team)
Football League Championship
Referee: Salisbury, Michael
Assistant Referee: Wilkes, Matthew
Assistant Referee: Aspinall, Natalie

Also hidden away in League 2:

Mansfield Town F.C. (First Team) v Crewe Alexandra FC (First Team)
Football League 2

no sign of Harrington again probably not in ref bosses good books probably the same with kavanagh

banks not on Fifa list anymore shame as he wasn't given many big Uefa games just qualifiers

no sign of another appointment for bobby madley probably best to keep him at championship/L1/L2 level

You are aware that contracted PGMO officials have annual leave entitlements, and other leave entitlements as per any paying job, and that he could just be on leave without there being any reason whatsoever as to his absence?

Well someone had to do it so it might as well be me.  Being lacking in literary knowledge, I had to look this up although the meaning can be guessed:

Frabjous means “wonderful, elegant, superb, or delicious.” Carroll likely created it to combine fabulous and joyous. He used it to describe the day the Jabberwock was killed: “O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!”

So microscopist, are you truly delighted as it makes a change from Taylor or Oliver, or does one detect just a slight note of sarcasm.....?

As a Utd fan I am not thrilled at Attwell’s appointment but hope he has a good game he was superb on the Utd vs Chelsea match , and the best thing is that since the World Cup and next week  Utd have will have had  Madley , Jones , Salisbury , Brooks and Gillett refereeing their matches all of whom prior to the World Cup had very little or no experience refereeing Utd in domestic competitions

Some things are best left in the eye of the beholder; as was the case when I first encountered the phrase some 55+ years ago from my Biology Master, Mr Hempstock.

I am aware of that but he has certainly had an injury at some point, I remember when he was on VAR duties only for a while. You also can't deny the fact it's been a rubbish few seasons for him.

That was at the beginning of last season. Your OPINION may be that it's been a rubbish few seasons for him but others do not share that opinion, me for a start, but more importantly than both of us, the observers marking his games do not agree with you...

You have always been really negative about him. It's clearly a personal issue that you have with him. Did he steal your lunch money at school or something? The second there is the even a hint of controversy and up you pop slating him and yet when he has one of his many excellent games - tumbleweed, no sign of you whatsoever.
Hajrá Lilák. Csak a Kispest. Hajrá Magyarok! Hajrá játékvezetői csapat! Soha ne add fel. Nincs sárga kérem!!! No Chris Kavanagh doesn't live in Ashton or even in the Greater Manchester area!!

Personally I think it's fair to say it's been a couple of disappointing seasons for Chris Kavanagh, quite probably due primarily to injury or perhaps other issues.  Disappointing in the sense that with his talent he hasn't continued to develop in the eyes of some as was hoped and anticipated.  Nevertheless, he's only 37, the same age as Michael Oliver, so there's still time to put whatever problems he's experienced behind him and move forward.
