Having watched the highlights last night, I don’t think Hooper looks ready for the PL. he seemed to really struggle keeping up with play!

This might explain why he has been given lower league fixtures, maybe they haven’t considered him fit enough for the premier league.

...and this was Blackpool v Bradford in L1 which doesn't bode well for the PL with its present refereeing predicament!

A couple of injuries in SG1 will decimate them. Oliver and Taylor can’t keep getting the cream of the fixture list, especially if they are involved in European affairs too.

Very true but all our FIFA referees (and our ex-FIFA referees still in SG1) surely should be capable of being trusted to referee any domestic fixture but, even if they can't, it would be a simple matter to increase the number of SG1 officials from the ranks of SG2.  Messrs Madley and Jones spring to mind immediately.

This is very true, I would expect those two to get a trial game at some point this season. The elder statesman of SG1 will need replacing fairly quickly, Dean and East aren't getting any younger.

East isn’t getting any fitter either, so this could perhaps be his last season.
