Oh great shan't venture to Hillsborough now. The last time Lee Mason was there he looked totally uninterested was miles behind play and didn't have a clue.

Can't pay good money to watch that again

Don't you go to watch the match rather than the referee?!

Good to see Madley getting another PL game. Kavanagh gets an interesting looking game. Dean a safe pair of hans for the Sunday 16.30 game.

I think that Coote and Bankes should have had more games so far and I'd say Friend, Scott and Moss have been a bit overused (I think Scott in particular has generally done well out of them but I think they have generally been solid referees at best and aren't going to progress much further whereas some of the up and coming referees have much more scope for development.)

I'm not sure I agree about Mason. I think it's been about right. He's had 3 Premier League games out of 8 which seems about right to me for someone who generally hasn't been near the top performers and is nearer the end of his career than the beginning. I think he's been solid (from what I've seen) in his games so far. I'd put Friend, Scott and Moss into a similar bracket really - 5 or 6 PL games out of 8 seems too many for them in my opinion. I think they should be used in the PL every other week at the most - it's Tierney, Pawson, Kavanagh, Attwell, Madley, Coote, not to mention some up and coming FL referees in due course, that we need to be really developing.

Hooper's a tough one to call. In some ways, you can say if he's on the PL then they need to put some trust in him and give him the games to develop and prove himself. But to be honest I just don't think he's good enough for the top level so I can understand them not using him much.

i agree with readingfan hooper and banks should be trusted to do more games mason at the moment is one week in one week out
glad madley has got another appointment and should be safe pair of hands
why have hooper and banks in the top catagory of refs if they are just going to do the odd one or 2?
coote should get more games as well as mentioned by readingfan

Would you have rather seen him at a "lesser club" Like Newcastle ,Leicester or Sheffield given your comments in another thread. Inconsistant or what ?

I didn’t say that did I? I don’t have a problem with our elite officials refereeing teams outside the so-called top 6.  But they get games like Sheffield United v Liverpool and then 2/3/4 weeks later are refereeing the likes of Liverpool again. This restricts the non-elite refs from refereeing the top clubs and means the same ref does the same club constantly 6/7 times every season and that’s not right!

I wonder if we might see Jarred Gillett in the PL before too long. He has age on his side too.
David Silva olé.

Best set of appointments so far for me, although I would also like to see Messrs Bankes and Hooper used more.

Before Jarred Gillett arrived I said on here that I only think it will be two seasons (max) before he is a SG1 referee.

I still think that will be the case.
