Acme I was at the game. Wasn’t the best of games I’d agree with you on that. Palace did a job on Burnley and stopped us from playing into the front two and nicked two goals for two Burnley mistakes. However I have to disagree with your comments on Peter Bankes. He was very inconsistent with his yellow cards. Wasn’t booking Bardsley until your number 4 went and had a word. Mc Neill got chopped down a number of times no cards. He let goal kicks being taken with the attackers still in the box.Basic laws. Throw ins taking about 30 seconds each one. No clamping down on dissent or time wasting. I thought he looked out of his depth from quite early on. He fell for play acting on both sides. Both teams knew they could get away with things. Not many big calls for him to make and thought Adam Nunn had a good game when it came to not flagging until it had gone in for the disallowed offside goal.
I also agree with this and I felt that the Bardsley caution, for a nothing incident which was right in front of where I sit, was a point where he really showed his lack of control. Burnley are regularly criticised for time wasting, however, Palace took it to a different level with one goal kick taking almost one and a half minutes and many throw ins taking an eternity and nothing was said.
Another example of VAR not being necessary was Palace's first goal. It was a good goal and the players of both sides were all lined up to kick off and yet we waited until VAR had checked the goal -- there was absolutely nothing contentious about it and yet we, as spectators, were just told that there was a VAR review ---it really is crazy.
