I was very intrigued by the differing stances taken over the Bednarek "challenge" on Martial in the Man Utd v Southampton game. When the incident took place Peter Walton summarising on BT Sport just kept repeating "If he hasn't made a challenge for the ball then in has to be a red card" . Presumably this was the main topic of discussion between Graham Scott on VAR and Mike Dean the match official. Conversely when the highlights were shown on Match Of The Day the first thing Dion Dublin said was "Bednarek hasn' t got anywhere near him. His left foot has stopped on the turf and Martial is already falling over without any contact" .  If an ex-player can see that there has been no contact and that it shouldn't be a penalty then how come two current SG1 referees and a former SG1 can't pick that out of several re-runs of the incident?

From one of the angles there was very clear contact.  Whether it was enough to take him down is a different question, but there was definitely contact, think it was Bednarek's knee into Martial's thigh if I remember it correctly.
