I think Atkinson on Man City V Chelsea is a crazy appointment. He's a good referee of course but had a poor few weeks. Appointment doesn't feel merited.

Busy weekend for Andre Marriner!

Hooper's had a few PL games lately but would be nice to see more of Bankes/Madley.

Happy with Hoops at Dean Court - it's a ground he has always been comfortable & relaxed in, he is very popular amongst the Dean Court faithful & we tend to see him at his best.

It's about time Friend re appeared down there! He seems to be a regular visitor to the AMEX these days... perhaps his car parking space has deteriorated since Grandad retired!

Absolutely bonkers that Andre has 2 VAR games on Saturday and then has to travel up to Sheffield and switch back on again for a game on Sunday. It just shows how desperately short of numbers they are.

Referees have regularly done 4th Off Sat and reffed Sunday with little or no comment
Not quite sure how sitting in a warm studio is any different/worse

Issue with numbers is whole different ball game

Difference being they would usually be fourth official at a ground closer to where they were due to referee.....

Is Martin Atkinson really our best referee, and consistently performing at his best to warrant the fixture he has this weekend?  ::)

Is that when he is or isn't being let down by VAR?

Any thoughts on Hooper at Dean Court? Looked like a game riddled with fouls and free kicks. And the sending off of Francis followed an advantage (yes a good advantage) by Hooper which I thought was frowned on nowadays unless a goal seems likely to follow.

He's been widely praised by the Dean Court Faithful on the AFCB forums for the handling of the game & a poll showed 76% AFCB fans agreed with Francis red. Bearing in mind we lost, were down to 10 men & this is regular fans it's a good sign there is very little dissent/complaints.

I thought Hooper was a bit indecisive in showing the second yellow for what was quite a clear offence - it seemed he needed the Wolves players/other officials to tell him!

He was also far too quick on the whistle for the Wolves disallowed goal when it appears it was actually onside and should have been allowed to stand but he took the option away from VAR.
