All Bramhall needs to do is look at Simon Hooper - knuckle down, work hard, take chances when they come

Or change his name to Robert Madley. As I have said a few times the writing has been on the wall most of the season and Webb and co. couldn’t wait to get him back in the SG.
I am sure some on here will rejoice but not me.

Why would Webb be desperate to get Madley back into the Premier League?  Not as if they worked together for years, their Premier League careers only overlapped by one season, and for almost all of that time Madley would have been on Championship games as all newly promoted referees were under Riley.

Perhaps, just perhaps, he is the top marked referee in the Championship?  But that wouldn't suit your evident dislike of him would it?

I think Robinson and R Madley will be promoted to SG1 and if they take a third it will be Smith I suspect. It appears that Bond has perhaps had an injury at an unfortunate time as he also seemed to be very much in the frame and perhaps he still is.

I do not like R Madley's style of officiating, he always seems very keen on making it about himself, but I suspect he is a very competent technical referee and this accounts for his promotions. I guess he is now too old to regain a FIFA Badge but here's a prediction. In two or three years time he will be getting more top fixtures than his brother and I am sure, in time, the fates ( or the Yorkshire Fairy Godmother ) have decreed that they will both receive an FA Cup Final.

Not sure if there is still an age limit for getting onto FIFA, but when there was it only applied to the initial joining.  If you "left" you could then come back after you were older than that age.  So as Bobby Madley was on before any age limit wouldn't apply to him.

I might be in the minority and think Bobby Madley isn’t actually that bad, he is better than Bankes, Coote, Harrington and Salisbury for me.

Not sure I agree on him getting another chance so quickly though

What must Brammall be thinking given how few games he has had and yet again overlooked for an SG2 referee…..

Good game for Marriner. I'm a bit surprised at Bankes doing such a big game at this stage of the season. There's been a lot of talk about Oliver and if him not doing Newcastle games would affect other appointments but I think it was suggested Coote didn't referee Nottingham Forest but he's got the Everton game.

I know it becomes difficult but I agree in the Bankes point

Peter Bankes- on a match with directly affects Everton
Michael Oliver- 40 on a Liverpool match
David Coote- directly affects Nottingham Forest
Rob Jones- Newcastle match? Affects Liverpool
Michael Salisbury- VAR on a Man United game- affects Liverpool

Also, Ian Hussin (Liverpool fan) on A Man United match and Dan Cook (doesn’t officiate   Manchester sides) on Newcastle

Poor appointing with just two weeks to go. Yes they are professional and it won’t affect the match officials but Last thing you want is a referee making a hugely controversial decision, which happens to directly benefit the team they support.

It is about opinion and I too am not a fan of his style. However, he did not leave PL list (or FIFA) due to ability or performance, so once he had worked through his period of pennance, one assumes his ability has not suddenly vanished and therefore he we would be returned to SG1. It will be interesting to see the shake up once the season is finally over.

Robert Madley seems to heavily divide opinion on here which is of course the name of this site so that’s fine. However, to call him a rookie ref is some distance from the truth.
I believe Mr Madley has refereed around 100 EPL matches and spent 4 or 5 years on the SG1 referee list.
To refer to someone of that experience a rookie is either not knowing your referees or simply ignorant to even check.

An interesting set of fixtures. As has been stated I do wonder what Mr Bramall makes of his lack of appointments this season

I'd say the opinion on Bobby Madley is fairly in agreement, most of us of here don't rate him but I'm happy to be proved wrong/listen to other opinions. To clarify my point, I've edited my post, the term 'rookie' was in general about how Fulham always seem to the test-bed for SG2 promotion potential, of which these are usually rookie (at PL level). Obviously in this case Madley isn't a rookie in that respect, so let's hope he's able to start to prove me wrong on Saturday!

Why is Peter Bankes at West Ham? He did their last home game, where he missed a stonewall handball, just two weeks ago. Ridiculous.

Assuming R Madley does attain SG1 status it will be interesting to see if anyone else is asked to 'surrender' their FIFA Badge so he may receive one. In a plot worthy of a  paperback Western, maybe his brother will relinquish his Sheriff's Badge to him or it may be that he will be appointed when Anthony Taylor steps down from international duties.

England is most likely to step down I would feel as I don't see a future on the FIFA stage for him
