Fantastic and deserved appointment for Simon Hooper.  Less pleased with Attwell on another Man Utd match good to see another PL middle for Tim Robinson and Darren Bond

Happy with Hooper, but let's hope he has his fast running shoes, considering Liverpool vs Man City has been a very fast paced game in recent seasons. He better not pull up with Scott as 40.

Brooks on VAR is rather disappointing after his horror show the other week.

Chelsea fans won't be happy with the midweek appointment.

Most referees have a game, just Salisbury and Harrington without I think.

Bond and Robinson look set for promotion.

Surely that is 100% certain that those 2 will be promoted
Also why not give Michael Salisbury another game as he seems to be out of favour at the moment

Feeling sorry for Darren Cann. All the way up from his home near Norwich to Newcastle on Sunday then, just 2 days later on the Tuesday, all the way down to Bournemouth.

Great game for Hooper which is deserved and we got England for I think the first time this season as an on field official

You had him as your 1st home game against Leicester.

That’s why I said think wasn’t hundred 100% sure but I know we haven’t had him much this season

Both these two are over white badge age so seems a bit pointless unless you are happy to replace Andre and Graham Scott who have had very little game time this season?

I'm a tad surprised at Tim Robinson's appointment, Palace v Leicester, as there is a lot riding on the result at the bottom of the PL and there will be a lot of interest in Roy's return to Selhurst Park and whether he can help to get the home side their first PL win of 2023. However I wish Tim & team all the best and hope they have a good day at SP.

I think Robinson should have been promoted a couple of seasons ago so happy to see him hopefully get it this season and he should still get at least 7 or 8 seasons before he even considers retirement so can’t moan about that and Bond is a good safe pair of hands in the championship so deserves to also be promoted

Some fairly chunky mileage claims this weekend!!

Regarding Hooper, I think he is following a similar path to what happened with Wiley.

Wiley missed out on FIFA like Hooper has, but all the indications are that Hooper could be a very very strong official who picks up these big games regularly, without the need for the likes of Oliver to be summoned all the time.

No mistake, Wiley was a fantastic official and no one can emulate his unflappable style.

Great game for Hooper. I don't think many would have predicted him to get Man City V Liverpool at the start of the season. A good game for England too.

It's certainly looking very likely that Robinson and Bond will be promoted. There's a fair amount riding on their games too - it's not as if they're just mid-table end of season affairs. It will be interesting if anyone else is promoted. I guess it partly depends on if anyone comes off the list.

Who's the third oldest referee on SG1 after Scott and Marriner? We've seen quite a few retirements over last two years but after Scott/Marriner stop (whenever that might be) it could potentially be a while before any more gaps open up if everyone continues until a similar age.

I hope Marriner at least gets to 400 PL games as he spoke about in the recent article - I think he maybe has 4 more to go to get there?

Richard Keys has suggested he doesn't think Mike Dean will be used again as a VAR. I'd normally take something Keys says with a pinch of salt but they did work together at the World Cup so he might have some knowledge on this one.
