Anyone think that Mike Dean's reaction to send off Bilic was OTT - wouldn't a yellow card have sufficed? Surely he could've managed the situation far better?

Also, Jon Moss and Martin Atkinson will get blamed for the penalties in the Man Utd - Crystal Palace game, but those are the laws however ridiculous they are - especially the law over the goalkeeper's movement, where they have virtually no chance now. I'm sure many would prefer the law to allow them to move as much as they want as long it isn't frivolous. As for the original handball, it's in an unnatural position, but he had no reaction time.

Mike Dean was perfectly within his rights to do what he did to Bilic because it all happened on the field of play and was totally unnecessary. Bilic should have learned from what happened to Mauricio Pochettino a couple of seasons ago when he started berating Mike on the field after Spurs had lost at Turf Moor. He could not be sent to the  stand because the game was finished, however, Mike put his report in and Pochettino suffered a touchline ban and a fine.
My question is:- Why should any referee at any level have to contend with managers, coaches and, very often, parents approaching him about any decision? Yes, things happen in the heat of the moment, as with Bilic yesterday, however, Mike Dean told him to go away several times but he did not heed the instruction.

As far as the penalties and goalkeeper movement are concerned this is what those ruining the game want and I eagerly await the introduction of their next attempt tp ensure that the game of football is 100% perfect.
Referee's decision used to be final!

Ashington is 100% correct in his question.  Bilic justified his actions later by saying "he had the right" to offer the referee his opinion and to ask for justification for the referees' actions.  Where?

Premier League and Football League managers have more access to the match officials (directly and indirectly) than at any other level, but this supposed right does not exist.  Although the wording, structure and content of Law Five has changed since I took the exam back in 1980-frozen-to-death; it never has said that the referee has a duty to stand there and take dog's abuse (dressed up and polite enquiries) from players, coaches, etc.  Nor does it say they have a duty to justify their decisions to platers, coaches, etc.

As for the penalties, the original decision was absurd (bit correct) and the retake was a matter of fact.  The fact that many other instances go unpunished does not make the decision incorrect.  Try running that argument to a traffic policeman when he is booking you for 35mph in a 30 zone.
