Also Kavanagh with Liverpool for the SEVENTH TIME. Over 20% of Liverpool's PL games have been refereed by him. I know 3 refs cannot do them and there's been a lot of injuries but that is absolutely ridiculous for 1 team in 1 season

On the other end of the scale, Pawson with Chelsea for the first time!

Earl change with Tierney replacing Bankes - another ref to add to the injury list?

They’ll be calling in a lot of SG2 soon if they continue to drop like flies!
Madley, Kirk, Hallam, Lewis Smith and Webb the obvious candidates.

In all seriousness, I don’t recall an injury crisis like this one in SG1 occurring for a very long time, if at all.

I think Kirk, Hallam and Kitchen would be the first to get a game in my opinion. Closely followed by both of the Smith’s, then Webb/Madley.

Let’s hope Tierney has a good game like he did at Old Trafford.

He was terrible when we had him last so things can only get better!

The crisis gets worse.... Hallam replaces Robinson on all his appointments this weekend, including the Leeds v Wolves game.

Obviously, the current SG1 injury crisis is seemingly one we haven’t seen for quite a long time.

But I think we must praise the likes of Michael Oliver, Anthony Taylor and this season in particular Chris Kavanagh who have had incredibly busy schedules at times and can argue that they’ve been pushed to the limit with lots of domestic and international fixtures since the start of the season. They have always been available for every week of the season and none of them have spent a prolonged period out of action with injury and they must be praised for that.

I 100% agree with that.

I also want to send my praises to Donohue who has refereed, held up the boards and been behind the monitors in the league this season as well as refereeing in the Championship. He has had multiple weekends with multiple appointments and I think he deserves a ton of praise as well.

Just a word on the replacements earlier (Hallam for Robinson), part of me thinks if Kitchen was available (he must not be available for the weekend as he is involved nowhere but refereeing midweek) then he would’ve been replacing Robinson as Hallam already had an appointment.

That’s just my view on it, I may be completely wrong but you never know! Appointments will definitely look interesting come Monday (or Tuesday) as we have the FA Cup SF next weekend, which could possibly require SVAR’s, and with 2 possibly new injuries in SG1 I’d imagine Kirk, Hallam or Kitchen could possibly make an appearance in the Premier League.

Lewis Smith ran the line for a good chunk of the game at Elland Road, replacing an injured Matt Wilkes.

Another one to add to the list.

I’d imagine Lewis is shattered after refereeing at Blackburn last night!

I will most definitely be slammed wrong immediately I am sure, but is this the first time 2 non-SG1 officials have been on-field in a PL match, excluding being fourth official?

Hallam & Smith in this case.
