Yes he did, he was OK but did have 2 decisions overturned by VAR, one a disallowed goal that was a very difficult spot; the other a penalty which was an easier spot.  He didn't look tired, but there were a few odd decisions thrown in here and there.  I think it would've been wise to replace him, as a 41 hour turnaround is not particularly wise for anyone, players or officials.

Did England still do Watford V West Ham? I thought they might replace him to save such a short turnaround game, perhaps by giving Gillett the game seeing as he didn't referee on Sunday in the end.

Yes he did & he put in a decent enough shift. One VAR review that correctly led to a disallowed goal & one for a penalty as well. I didn't notice anything terribly wrong although I was doing a jigsaw puzzle at the time while semi watching.  No end of the world gloom and doom from the commentators that I heard!

Everton v Newcastle gone on Thursday.

I can’t see how Soton v Newcastle will survive on NYD.

These postponed matches are going to be a nightmare to reschedule…. especially for sides in Europe.

The EFL has slightly more scope but that won’t be pleasant.

They have to extend the season surely.

I don't think they have the option too, with the next one starting much earlier. Plus the nations league starting in june.

No hugs for bmb then

It's beyond ridiculous now all these postponements across all 4 of the top leagues. They'd have been better taking that 2 week break they decided against.

Teams should be forced to use their Under 23s. Newcastle coincidentally wanting postponements when their two best players just got injured....

I think that's a very soft foul for the disallowed goal and the pen is hard to see first time but once reviewed its a penalty

They'd only have been better doing that if things improved at the end of the 2 weeks, which I'm rather doubtful about.

We're now nearing the end of the 2 week period where the idea was initially suggested and games are still being postponed. Newcastle V Man Utd was able to go ahead on Monday but if they'd had a 2 week break for everyone it would have been cancelled and then it looks like Newcastle might still have cases at the end of it.

TTFL - I don't think the PL will have too much of an issue fitting everything in currently. Teams not in Europe have multiple midweeks to rearrange matches for. Leicester and Chelsea are the main concerns considering Leicester are in Europa Conference Last 32 and Chelsea have Club World Cup too.

I've just noticed Tierney is due to be doing Chelsea V Liverpool as VAR on Sunday - Klopp will be delighted!

What was with all the VAR changes yesterday? It seemed it was mostly a case of the same people swapping games rather than some people not being available.

They are going to have to use FA Cup dates for some Premier League fixtures, depending on the teams involved. The fourth round is scheduled for 5th February, so they might be able to use that weekend if teams are out of the Cup. Similarly, the preceding weekend has no Premier League matches, so they will have to forego this ludicrous winter break idea and use that one as well.

All of the international federations (except UEFA) have got WC qualifiers on this date in January so this date cannot be used

Maybe clubs will have to use the extensive squads they seem to have conveniently forgotten about recently.

How many players have Chelsea currently got out on loan?

All these postponements is going to come back and haunt the clubs.  They might well be regretting not using their reserve and youth players when they end up playing three times a week come the end of the season.  There's also some real mixed messages, with clubs saying they can't field a team but then asking to go back to 5 subs allowed.

Sadly, the club who have played the least number of games in the PL will be hit with this problem and the 4 games which have been postponed have all not been their fault, although they have been hit with various injuries and some covid cases.
Referee's decision used to be final!
