No, he is Wirral based - but he does live in an area with a signficant number of Covid cases.  I work in the area and there have been a number of cases within my place of work.

Such a shame that we have waited so long for Rob Jones to get a PL match, he’s then appointed to a decent game and has to come off it! I sincerely hope all is well

What’s the reason Jones has been replaced? I think he’s West Cheshire based isn’t he, so COVID related?

Yes Robert Jones is based in the Wirral which is smack bang in the middle of Covid restrictions unfortunately.

If Manchester falls foul which in all likelihood it will, Taylor, Mason, Tierney and Kavanagh could be affected too, which would be an interesting problem for Riley.

Incidentally, I didn’t realise Tierney was born in Belfast..

Not sure that is the reason.  The Wirral is in the Liverpool tier 3 area but Mike Dean is still travelling to Stockley Park for VAR duties, and I'm pretty sure Ian Hussin is from Liverpool.

More likely he is injured, or perhaps has been in contact with someone showing Covid symptoms so is having to isolate.

Mike Dean lives in Wales now.... I think.

Bankes lives within the Tier 3 restrictions too, and he has replaced Jones - so I would imagine Jones has been replaced because of injury or Covid related reasons.

Rob Jones is said to be from Liverpool but so is Peter Bankes, I think. Perhaps Mr. Jones is unwell or injured?

It should perhaps be remembered that another referee was forced to call off his first few PL games due to injury and that was Michael Oliver. And he does not seem to have come to much harm since then. Whatever the reasons for his absence, I hope that we shall see Robert in action on the PL before long.

Var should have seen Pickford red card challenge but didn’t and ruled Henderson goal offside when it should have stood

Perhaps Oliver will be pleased he has Attwell and Pawson as VAR and Assistant VAR for his CL game on Wednesday.

The thing is, it's already screwed this partnership.

Goalie does a similar tackle as (removed, insults not acceptable).Oliver "David it's a red card" - headline "Oliver shows Coote a red card"

I do not believe Coote and Oliver should be officiating tonight. They are in a no win situation.

Mr jones is unfortunately not well.

What’s the reason Jones has been replaced? I think he’s West Cheshire based isn’t he, so COVID related?
