I saw Will Finnie at Gresty Road in what must have been one of his first games on the list and I thought he had a good game. Looked just like a schoolboy alongside adults, but his control of the game was good.

I have seen Will Finnie since he was a 2B. An exemplary attitude and I always thought he had the makings of a very fine referee indeed. I hope it works out well for him.

I'm sure some will have access to more official records of ages for those referees mentioned as potential future stars. The only one I readily found from a newspaper article back in Sep.'20 was that Leigh Doughty was 30 at that time.

It's an interesting point about whether Tierney and Attwell should make room for Jones and England. I think removing Tierney and Attwell is very hard on them but it does seem fairly clear that neither of them is going to have much of an international career.

Other nations seem to find talent at a very young age and nurture it into a FIFA badge at about the age of 30. However, this can backfire as was the case with Attwell's first incarnation into FIFA. I think certain influential people saw in Attwell much more potential than there actually was.

Who is there in England, already in their mid 20s, and really impressing people? I don't know their ages but the names I have heard spoken of very well are Doughty, Edwards and Donohue.

Lord Elleray didn’t help Attwell one bit IMO did he?

Actually I never understood why Attwell was removed from the FIFA list. He made his EL Group stage debut on 2011 and even did the Final of the U19. So he must have done something right back then to get so many appointments by UEFA.

James Oldham in his second year. James Bell has been good on the occasion I’ve seen him, and Ben Speedie was good when I saw him in the national league North.

As things turned out I guess he didn't. It could be argued that if Attwell hadn't been so rushed through the promotion system he might have matured into a world class referee. It's not an argument I buy at all. Great credit must go to Attwell who, after being knocked off his place in the top flight and losing his FIFA Badge, has so continued to work at his game to regain both. He is now where I think he should be, a middle ranking SG1 official with a minor role internationally although VAR may be his thing here. It's a shame he had to go through his demotions first. A more steady rise would have seen him where he is now but without the difficulties on the way there.

All over social media, it is being said that Paul Tierney blew his whistle six seconds before the 1 minute was up. For me, there is nothing wrong with that. It was just unfortunate that it turned out that the ball would have turned into an attack.

Maybe Tierney started his watch before the players took the knee!

Does this mean he won't be on the spurs Liverpool game tomorrow?

Not necessarily.  That will depend on why he couldn't make it tonight - could be car probs, weather related, family related or anything and without knowing that, we don't know if it will affect tomorrow or not.
Hajrá Lilák. Csak a Kispest. Hajrá Magyarok! Hajrá játékvezetői csapat! Soha ne add fel. Nincs sárga kérem!!! No Chris Kavanagh doesn't live in Ashton or even in the Greater Manchester area!!

Cann would have three games in four days if he stays on either appointment on Thursday AND Saturday.

It would be common sense to take him off of tonight's game, however Cann might not want to due it being a big big game. So it would be smart to take him off the Saturday one. However, when has Mike Riley shown much common sense when it comes to appointments. i swear i could do better and he has 40 odd years on me ;D ;D

Spurs v Liverpool is next week.  Liverpool v Burnley is tonight, and Marc Perry has replaced Darren Cann on this game.
