Grandad Walton missed a League cup game between  Chelsea and Liverpool I believe he was scheduled to be 4th official and didn't make it in time Jarnail Singh was at the game and took over 4th man duties and if memory serves me correctly Paul Norman was injured before kick off and Grandad who had just made it to the ground had to run the line

I hope he was well rested afterward in his comfy slippers and a warm Horlicks 😂

David Coote wore yellow so he can take himself off to the naughty step. He was fine, I can’t think of any issues really. My team played well, despite the score! It was men v boys, Man City aren’t just on another level, they’re in a completely different universe, incredible team. Thank goodness we only have to play them once more!!

Can we go back to the Championship yet…

Apart from financial gain (which in some cases cripples clubs), what is the actual point of winning promotion to the Premier League if you're wishing for that after two games, one of which you won?

There is no point other than the financial gain, imo, for a small club like mine at least. Very pleased that Max has put a wage cap in place that would be doable in the Championship & that we are investing in the training ground this time around. I'm not a fan of the PL, never have been and I doubt I ever will be and I've been consistently vocal about that since we were a crappy little team on first name terms with the bailiffs!

This was not even given as a foul yesterday https://twitter.com/playzytstyle/status/1558534688058261506?s=21&t=ilg30BHgnojdiNFUqqA5IA

Harrington and his assistants were very reluctant to whistle/flag for anything in the first half but got better as the game went on,

Meanwhile Graham Scott was giving everything as a foul

Michael Salisbury is being kept busy in the VAR booth this afternoon.  A disallowed goal for a foul (which has been widely debated), a disallowed goal for offside, and a penalty for handball.

Anthony Taylor had a bit of a mare today alongside Mike Dean how both spurs goals stood is beyond me, a foul and a offside in the build up to the first and apparently var overlooked the hair by Romero in Cucurella leading to the 2nd goal

Just been told this is the first time Harrington has refereed Southampton in the league, apparently he's taken charge of a cup game with them v Coventry. Does anyone know if this is true?
Yes that’s correct. He’s never refereed Southampton in the league but was in the middle for their 2-1 win over Coventry in the 4th round of the FA Cup last season.
Cheers, I thought it must be right because this person is really knowledgeable, but just thought it was a bit odd and wanted to check. Much appreciated.

I guess Harrington barely refereed any PL games last season and Southampton have been in PL since 2012. For teams that have been in the PL a long time, I guess there's quite a few that Brooks/Harrington/Salsbury haven't yet refereed in the league.

Anthony Taylor was in a great position to see the Spurs player pull is opponent by the hair, and did nothing about it, that was a typical premier league referee these days see nothing and wait for VAR. Looks like Mike Dean will be making some interesting decisions if yesterdays performance on VAR is anything to go by. I would have been very surprised if he had been refereeing the game that he would have seen the incident regards the violent conduct by the Spurs player and taken the necessary action.

He was in a position to see it, but you can't possibly know where he was looking at the time it happened.  There's a lot that happens at corners and it isn't easy to see everything.  I can't find any possible justification for Mike Dean though.
