Apart from Tierney picking up a TV game after his poor showing yesterday, another very fair set of appointments.  Only 4 referees getting a 2nd game in 2 weekends - 3 of the usual suspects, plus Rob Jones!  Great to see Harrington and Brooks get early outings this season, I hope to see Salisbury in the next set of fixtures.  Anthony Taylor getting the big match this weekend is fair, he was excellent on Friday.

Pleased to see Harrington and Brooks given early games this season, also nice to see Rob Jones on a telly game! Taylor was excellent on Friday night so deservedly gets the top clash of the weekend.

I do feel Oliver could’ve been given a weekend off to enjoy the Super Cup experience. It’s going to be a busy season internationally for both him and Taylor so I hope their workload is well managed.

Another fairly good set of appointments. Good to see Harrington and Brooks get games this weekend. I disagree with them appointing Michael Oliver this weekend as i feel it is unfair on him to have to referee 3 days after the Super Cup and they could have gone with someone like Gillett or Pawson instead of him. How Paul Tierney has got a game this weekend is beyond me but that is Mike Riley for you. Agree with Anthony Taylor getting the big game as i thought his performance on Friday merited this appointment.

It would be nice for Oliver to have a rest after his top European appointment on Wednesday; but - realistically - apart from him, Taylor and Marriner, its hard to find a safe pair of hands for the top EPL clashes.  As a result, both Oliver and Taylor are going to be very busy this season.  EUFA will keep them busy on the Champions League (in preparation for the World Cup) and Riley will have them out at every opportunity. 

I hope they do not "break" (mentally or physically) but the harder you work them, the more likely it is to happen.
