Agree, and Sterling's argument seems to be that he was prevented from bringing his foot back to shoot rather than saying he was fouled.  Having watched it multiple times I am still unclear on what contact there was, and I certainly don't think VAR could deem this as a clear and obvious error.

Sterling lucky to be on the pitch anyway. Seen people sent off for less, and surprised review not recommended for consistency with other red cards seen lately !

Fair point.  I missed a few minutes of the game and hadn't seen that incident until MotD.  What sanction was given if any?
My feeling about the 'penalty' claimed by City was that another referee on a different day might have given it and it wouldn't have resulted in an OFR either.  It looked clumsy but I'm not totally convinced there was enough there to justify a penalty.
Sterling was issued with a yellow card, i agree it could have easily been red on current interpretation of the laws of the game.
I dont suppose aguero will take another penalty for city, or not until the game after the title is secured.

Sterling's tackle could easily have warranted a red card on another occasion. Idle speculation but I do wonder if Anthony Taylor had been refereeing in Europe and that sort of tackle was made whether the sanction would have been the same ?
