Probably would help if you added the game & the ref!

The obvious error in the Man City Chelsea game. Sterling on Zouma (edited to fix quote-hertsref)

I think you mean on Sterling by Zouma.  The referee was Anthony Taylor.

Presumably VAR did not consider it a clear and obvious error.

Only obvious or not so obvious if you're watching the game! Not everyone on here watches the PL or has a clue what game is or isn't being played in it at any given moment. I go look up incidents on Twitter (as it's such a reliable fountain of knowledge...) If nothing else there will be a clip of the incident floating about so I can have a look.

Personally I was watching my Lilák beat ZTE 5-4 followed by the highlights show as there were actually some highlights today!

VAR clearly thought not.

Even with the benefit of slow mo replays Mica Richard's wasn't sure.
Kelly Cates is  like all presenters,  instructed to encourage controversy
Jamie Redknapp has the intellect of a pot plant so I automatically discount his inane burblings

I would say the incident involving Zouma and Sterling was one of those sometimes a penalty is given, sometimes not. It depends on the referee on the day, cant say it was a clear and obvious error for var to intervene.
Minimal if any contact, not that contact means foul.

Agree, and Sterling's argument seems to be that he was prevented from bringing his foot back to shoot rather than saying he was fouled.  Having watched it multiple times I am still unclear on what contact there was, and I certainly don't think VAR could deem this as a clear and obvious error.

Sterling lucky to be on the pitch anyway. Seen people sent off for less, and surprised review not recommended for consistency with other red cards seen lately !

Fair point.  I missed a few minutes of the game and hadn't seen that incident until MotD.  What sanction was given if any?
My feeling about the 'penalty' claimed by City was that another referee on a different day might have given it and it wouldn't have resulted in an OFR either.  It looked clumsy but I'm not totally convinced there was enough there to justify a penalty.

Sterling was issued with a yellow card, i agree it could have easily been red on current interpretation of the laws of the game.
I dont suppose aguero will take another penalty for city, or not until the game after the title is secured.
