Not surprised Atkinson gets the big Sunday game.  Taylor and Oliver given less high profile encounters after their CL commitments in Russia and Portugal tomorrow evening.

Tierney and Dean just switch as referee and 4O for the 2 matches in London.

Yes, lower profile but this is already Michael Oliver's second visit of the season to Selhurst Park. Pleased to see him again but hoping for a different result this time

Lost a bit of confidence in Mr Atkinson, after the non-penalty decision when Young took out Aguero in the Manchester derby. However preferable to Mr Taylor, who I thought might have got the nod.

Mistakes are mistakes mate. I used to think the same about clattenburg after the 4 wrong decisions he gave in 3 straight derbies at OT. Swings and roundabouts!

It is not a case of being dropped but rather a case of fulfilling contractual agreements! Their contracts do not specify premier league games only, they are contractually obliged to cover PL, FL and cup games. The PL are contractually obliged to cover a minimum specified amount of FL games with SG1 referees every week.

Off topic, yes, but in the early days of the PL, the PL refs only refereed PL and Cup games (+ UEFA, FIFA .... as appropriate). The result was a dearth of games for each PL ref and demands from certain PL refs to be allowed to referee FL games as well. David Elleray was at the fore on this and his reward was to be the first PL ref to referee a FL game, although whether he was pleased to be given a midweek game at Layer Road, Colchester is not known!

i don't think attwell deserves to stay on board duties as he has managed games well when he's been in the middle very well unlike east and i suppose select group i need to cover all leagues to cover all the games which i did not realise

Well, yes, but we know which referees are generally the ones who are 'dropped' to the EFL most weeks...

if Atkinson is injured then Attwell will need to take over and if he needs to then I'm sure he will handle it well
