I’ve said it before Oliver is far too quick with his whistle. That penalty for Everton last night was pathetic.

I wouldn't say it was quite pathetic as I couldn't see a conclusive angle on the coverage I was watching. What I would agree with you on though is Oliver blows for a lot of penalties that fall into something of a VAR grey area. Not clear enough to be overturned once whistled but not something the VAR would call the referee for had he not awarded it.

It certainly caused some confusion among the Sky pundits.  Carragher initially said it was a penalty, then having looked at it again said he couldn't see anything; but then at HT, Rednapp explained why he thought it was a penalty.

The most striking thing for me is that I didn't notice any complaints from the Spurs players, not even the offender.  Are footballers so polite and respectful of a referee's decision these days that they abstain from appealing or protesting when they think they have been hard done by?
I must say it would be news to me.

Yes, that completely sold it for me.  Reguillon isn't normally quiet when a decision goes against him, yet he didn't say a word here and that can only really mean he knows that he caught him.

I think it shows that Oliver isn't afraid to blow for pens now despite the var.

He had his hands on his back. Even if there is no force, its a pen these days

Oliver wasn't at the best angle so it was brave of him to give it
Overall I'd say pen

Poor Rob Jones, let's say Don Goodman isn't his biggest fan after last night

Unfortunately he was a bit all over the place though

Its looking like he's going to fall into the Hooper category as I call it (the once a month refs) compared to England who's a good bet for the once every 2 weeks and possibly a Fifa ref like Bankes,Attwell,Madley,Coote etc

Also I'd put a bet on the return of Lee Mason next week. They've been building back up his confidence with lower games over the last 3 weeks and next week is a good bet for his return. I'd say Sheffield Utd v Brighton but considering his last PL performance, maybe not. Wolves v Burnley is the only other obvious game. Other games over the next few weeks could be Spurs v Sheffield Utd, Arsenal v West Brom, Leeds v Spurs, Burnley v Leeds and Crystal Palace v Arsenal. Let's face it though hes most likely getting Wolves v Burnley or Burnley v Leeds. They're not going to put him with the big teams. Scott and Hooper a good bet for those as well.

I think you might need to reconsider thinking he'll get Wolves v Burnley...
