Will this mean finals will be done only by SG1 officials again then?

More than likely, unless some of the SG2 refs have had VAR training. There's a possibility that they have, especially those in contention for promotion. Some other countries train their 2nd league refs as standard whereas England hasn't taken that route.
Hajrá Lilák. Csak a Kispest. Hajrá Magyarok! Hajrá játékvezetői csapat! Soha ne add fel. Nincs sárga kérem!!! No Chris Kavanagh doesn't live in Ashton or even in the Greater Manchester area!!

Certainly Darren Bond has experience (L1 p/o) and as mentioned elsewhere Rebecca Welch too (L2 p/o)

Even if they have had training, I don't see how they can appoint officials that have never used VAR on such vital games without them having any practical experience of using it.

Yes, I'd agree. I think the only non-SG1 officials I could imagine possibly being used would be those who've officiated in games using VAR, such as Tim Robinson, Darren Bond and Bobby Madley having refereed PL games this season.

No disrespect intended but the second leg at Hillsborough is virtually a dead rubber after the score last night..

I would add Rebecca Welch to that list

I agree Claretman - after all she has VAR experience in European competitions, appointments suggest an excellent season and yet not to be seen in initial play off appointments.

I think Luton Town fan Stuart Attwell from Coventry would be a good choice for the championship final.  ;D ;D

This doesn't make good readings for Scott, Marriner and maybe West. It has a feel of a final swansong for them. Meanwhile, Michael won't officiate in the PL after this Sunday again this year. Also, it puts Andre in prime position for a final day trip to Selhurst Park to say some possible goodbyes maybe in front of BMB 😭

Well presumably they know by now whether or not they're retiring at the end of the season!

I'm glad Oliver's got the PO final. As remarked recently, he's not had it previously. Presumably it would have bene someone else if Sunderland had made the final. It's also another match where Bennett isn't with him.

As you say, it means Oliver won't be refereeing on final day of PL season.

Ye I know I meant in terms of it looks like their time is ending.

Also I think Bennett might have done the game before so maybe that's why he's been fiscluded in recent week? Long shot but still
