Linington opens up the season.. was half expecting Stroud.

Some SG1 involvement with Bramall, Scott and Harrington with a tv offering.

Decent game for Smith and Madley straight into SG2 territory with a Lancs derby.

Welcome back to the Championship - Tim Robinson for the 1st game. I have a feeling it could be the 1st of many, especially with no Bournemouth or Fulham for him to frequent.

Good to be back! Seems a reasonably decent spread of appointments on the whole.

We have Keith Stroud at Millwall. One of those Marmite officials, you either like him or not. Personally, I think he’s a good referee.

No mention of Doughty, Davies or Langford in any of the SG2 or EFL appointments
Just an observation, not reading anything into it

Madley a very safe pair of hands for the Lancs Derby, easy for him really … with Riley gone surely a great chance for him to progress back to SG1 next season, just needs to referee the games do the job properly, don’t miss any mandatory cautions / sendings off and surely his going to be top 2.

Very unfair to say any championship game is ‘easy’ for any referee. I get what you’re saying though. Madley is a very safe pair of hands and I also think he will be back in the PL after one season.

Good games for Smith and Linnington. Both starting off where they finished and it seems these two and maybe Madley will be the ones they will push this season to move on to better things

Welcome back to the Championship - Tim Robinson for the 1st game. I have a feeling it could be the 1st of many, especially with no Bournemouth or Fulham for him to frequent.

Haven’t seen any footage yet but it seems it was a busy afternoon for Robinson.

Lots of yellows, two reds and a mass brawl.

Thankfully I didn't watch either but it seems he allowed a lot to go before any yellows were finally issued.

I saw the game, I would say he was very consistent throughout. Both red cards were correct second yellows, He had no alternative but to send Hanley off after a very similar incident with Perry Ng.

In the first half his approach was to regularly call the players and captains over for a chat but he needed to be more authoritative in the second half. After the mass brawl, he was writing in his notebook for a good two minutes. There will probably be a charge coming for both teams. He dealt with it well and took his time. The brawl was mainly lots of pushing and shoving and it did not look like there was any potential violent conduct.

Overall a good performance by Robinson, I personally like his lenient, talkative style but others may like him to start booking people a bit earlier.

Thought Tim Robinson was good for 80 minutes and felt for the last 10 minutes + stoppage time, he was very reluctant to give free kicks to either team. I also felt that he got a few decisions wrong with the main one being the decision to give a foul against Cardiff's Mark Harris when it looked pretty clear that the Norwich player was pulling his shirt. But that's just me nitpicking and overall i thought he handled what was a very tough game very well.

This was the first time I saw Robinson live and I thought he had a decent game. Much better live than trying to watch a performance on TV as you could see everything! The players didn’t make it easy for him in the second half but think he responded positively. The Cardiff players employed the tactic of trying to slow the game down and he was as proactive as possible talking to players, bring in the captain but eventually he cautioned Cardiff 11 for standing in front of the ball early in the 2nd half which then stopped it! I agree with a couple of his decisions but that’s down to a bit of human error or just difference of opinions, the beauty of this great game. Overall thou I thought he showed why he is trusted and delivered a solid performance for the opening weekend.
