We rightly talk on here about lack of originality/variety in the PL appointments but it is evident elsewhere too. This will be James Liningtons 3rd Reading home game this season already and I think he also did their last friendly before the season began.

A good West Midlands derby for Darren England. He seems to be be progressing well as a SG2 ref. Ditto Darren Bond in charge of the South Yorkshire derby.

It has been a bit more spread out for Ipswich's Championship farewell season.  Only Bankes, England and Ward have yet to take charge of one of their matches.

I saw Mr Linington on Saturday.  He wasn't particularity challenged but on his day I still think that he is one of the better referees in the SG2 (damned with faint praise).  David Webb's performance at Portman Road last week suggested that he won't be improving the quality of the SG2.

Easyish journey given the unreliability of the ferry from the Isle of Wight in this stormy weather we keep getting down here!

Gosh,I hadn't noticed that one. Good to see Eddie is back with us, and not the first time I believe that he has returned to action part way through the season. Will we see any more returning in the next few weeks eg SG2 James Adcock,Mark Brown, Darren Handley and Graham Horwood?

Coincidentally, Eltringham was the replacement official last time a referee went off injured in a Town match, Rob Jones exactly a year ago today at Middlesbrough.
