Friend and Kavanagh in the championship on Saturday.

Also has anyone noticed the lack of weekend appointments for Andy Woolmer in championship- he always seems to be appointed in midweek

Personally I don’t mind having Robinson at The Cottage again, I like him as a ref and think he’s one of the safest pairs of hands in the Championship

What I really can’t get my head around is Simpson in the middle for a game as big as WBA v Birmingham. Only Stephen Martin out does him in the incompetence stakes for my money. What do the powers that be see in him? I believe the general consensus on here, amongst a group of people who are clearly very knowledgeable about refereeing, is that he’s really not very good! It’s baffling, it really is. But what do we know eh!

He was (successfully) deceived  - an offence for which the player is now serving a ban.  He should not have been deceived, but players are very good at this and have been allowed to hone their deceiving skills for some time.  Probably not his greatest hour, but let's make sure we " ban" the offender and, perhaps, give the referee a break?

A reflection of Linington’s solid start to the season I suspect. UmpireIan49 has been very complimentary in a couple of recent posts and others have agreed
Tony Harrington was the last SG2 to referee the Welsh derby if I recall and look where he ended up, in the wilderness of SG1 playing with boards and tv monitors. So Mr Linington - beware!

He had a terrible game and gets no sanction, it wasn't just one incident.  He is out of his depth at this level.

According to the highlights Busby missed a clear penalty for posh at 0-0. The Middlesbrough penalty was pretty clear cut though
