I'm happy with Josh Smith for the Huddersfield V Reading game, if there's any significance on it, which sadly is looking doubtful.

Sian running the line for a potential promotion candidate in Robinson and in the Championship which is the highest I have seen her in the few games she has done the back end of the season, so looking likely a return to running the line next season in the premier league for her i'd imagine

Wow! Thats quite the meteoric rise

I understand he is good but you still need experience at each level

Has this ever happened?

Someone jump straight from 2A to SG2?

Wow! That is quite a meteroic rise for Lewis Smith - I hope it all goes well for him! Surely EFL promotion is nailed on for him, would be surprised if he was straight to SG2 next season though.....

I believe he's from Wigan based on a facebook post congratulating him on his promotion to 2A last year.

Also, speaking of Smiths, Josh Smith has a potentially huge game in the relegation stakes!

Re Lewis Smith. I have no idea about his ability, but profoundly disappointed that another Northern referee is being fast tracked. At SG1, there is one active SG ref based in the South (Hooper), plus Scott who is on his way out. Two Midlands refs and the rest in the North. Whilst Robinson may get promoted, this imbalance must have repercussions, if nothing else the lack of role models must have a negative effect. Even the main coaches Webb, Atkinson, Foy and Moss are northern.

When I was an aspiring ref, stopped 26 years ago, I was put off by cliques in the County FA. With the last three heads of PGMOL (Hackett, Riley and Webb) being from Yorkshire,  the perception of a clique appears strong.

No surprise Millwall v Blackburn has attracted a FIFA representative…

Robinson’s game could have been a relegation shootout but is now a dead rubber.

Madley and Busby also involved in the play off scrap.

Huge game for Josh Smith. However that could be a dead rubber if Huddersfield get something from Sheff U on Thursday.

I've recently posted on another thread that I  (and others) expect Lewis Smith to get the National League play-off final. I said he was head and shoulders above anyone else I'd seen at 2A level but am as surprised as anyone that he's got a championship game so soon.  He may very well be up to the task  although it must be a risk. I wish him well.

Lewis smith refereed Argyles promotion clincher vs burton last weekend, he was very good better than most , calm assured , accurate and had good player management in a high stress environment. If I didn’t know otherwise I would have easily said he’d been refereeing in league one for years .
My views are my own and not that of rate the ref .
