George Clancy - Specsavers?

https://rugbyrising.ie/no-red-for-throwing-the-head-did-mcfadden-get-lucky/

A number of us on here have been scathing of Clancy in the past as we feel his reffing leaves a lot to be desired at times. Unjustly possibly?
Well I have just caught this footage from last weekend - make up your own mind. After consulting with both the touch judge and the TMO Clancy seems to conclude that it was unclear if a head butt was thrown or not and therefore only gives a penalty. What????
Interestingly a disciplinary committee today has made Clancy's decision for him and McFadden is now banned for 6 weeks, so missing next weekends European Final.

Well if that is Mr Clancy's definition of unclarity for a head butt then what would convince him? Surely one of the TJs or TMO should have advised him as to the correct sanction if he did not see it himself. From the footage here the decision to give Red Card should be as clear as anything which , hopefully, Clancy would accept having seen it again.

Regardless of where contact may or may not have taken place surely any attempt to butt is a red card. Even if Clowncy is not prepared to send him off it had to be a card of some colour.
Unfortunately amidst all our VAR discussions this is an example where TV is not helpful as without the aid of a referal the word of the AR would have counted.
Let us hope Clancy has better vision this weekend whilst assisting the much better referee in Andy Brace
