The appointments for finals day are never really a surprise with the same officials seeming to be there each year. I would expect to see 4 from Bailey, Robinson, Wharf, Saggers, Millns, Cook or Burns.

Interestingly, Michael Gough's place on the International Panel is still to be filled. I reckon Saggers is being primed for the spot, although I do feel there are far more suitable candidates than him!

Robinson is injured.
Bailey, Wharf, Saggers and Millns would be my bet this year.

I know there is a bit of an on going joke about Mallender always being there on Finals day but he hasn’t featured much in recent years to he honest.
However one umpire has been there on Finals day for the last 3 years, 2016 - 2018 inclusive, and that’s Alex Wharf. As good an umpire a he may be I hope they don’t give him a 4th tournament on the trot as it’s surely healthier and fairer to see things shared out a bit

I think Jeff Evans retires this time after 20+ years steady service as an umpire. Would have been nice to have given him one of the 4 spots as a leaving “thankyou” instead of just going for the usual suspects

I agree, I also expected Jeff Evans to get a Quarter-Final which to my surprise he didn't. Jeremy Lloyds is also due to retire.

Neither Jeff or Jerry are retiring.
Retirement age is now 66 so they both have one more season if they wish to continue

Can’t help but wonder how Peter Willey and George Sharpe feel as a few seasons ago they challenged in the courts the 65 year old retirement age (as it was then) and had their case thrown out, thus having to retire!😆

The ruling stated that retirement would be in line with the national retirement age.
It was 65 them. It’s now 66. Eventually it will be 67, so some current umpires won’t have to retire until they are 67.
