Congratulations to Nitin Menon, who has been appointed to the ICC Elite Panel for the 2020-21 season. He takes the place of Nigel Llong for the upcoming season, and whilst no official comment has been made as to the exclusion of Llong, we can assume it is due to poor performance after the Cricinfo stats showing he has had the highest percentage of decisions overturned since 2017. As for Menon, he will further diversify the panel, slightly reducing the English/Australian dominance, although it is very uncertain when his fist elite panel assignment will be!
In the more imminent future, I wonder who will be appointed for the England-West Indies series. Will it be shared between the 3 remaining ICC Elite Panel members, or will Alex Wharf be given an opportunity, or will either Nigel Llong or Ian Gould be asked to return to the international arena until these exceptional circumstances come to an end? I guess we'll have to wait and find out!
