I am also confused that Shamshuddin has not been appointed on field for one of the remaining Test matches. He was appointed to a number of neutral ODIs a couple of years ago, and is more experienced than the other IUP members for India. I thought he'd get a Test rather than the inexperienced Sharma getting another. Definitely seems out of favour.

Thought the on-field umpires were good in 3rd test (as short as it was!) - got some very tight calls correct

Chaudry seems to be a better on-field umpire than a third umpire!

A shame the surface was diabolical...

Root has the best five for bowling figures for an English bowler in history... jumping ahead of the likes of Willis and Botham!

No doubt the ICC will do diddly squat about punishing India for preparing a sub standard surface, not to mention that it has now ruined my weekend entertainment when Iím on annual leave this week!

Possibly because of a lack of experience as a TV umpire in the first class game.  I wonder how much training the TV umpires for this series have received in comparison to their elite colleagues after being parachuted into the role at the last minute.  Perhaps it would have been better for the Indian international panel umpires, who have vast experience of umpiring in Indian conditions, to do the on-field job which they have done more than adequately in trying circumstances by and large, with the elite umpire in front of the TV monitor.

Afghanistan v Zimbabwe Test Series (Abu Dhabi)

Referee - Ranjan Madugalle (Sri Lanka)

On field - Aleem Dar (Pakistan) and Ahmed Shab Pakteen (Afghanistan)
Tv - Ahmed Shah Durrani (Afghanistan)

T20 series

Referee - Hamlin Talwar (Afghanistan)

On field -  TBC

Congratulations to Pakteen on becoming the first ever afghan to umpire a test match. Couldnít ask for a more experienced team than Madugalle and Dar, although it once again questions the non-neutral approach!

Also, congratulations to Brathwaite. Heís another umpire who I think the ICC has an eye on for future elite status so hereís hoping this goes well for him!

I think ICC policy is clear now. If non of the home umpires are on the elite panel, theyíll appoint a neutral elite umpire.

I wonder when they will revert to neutral umpires - surely by the English summer? I still canít accept how neutral officials can be in T20 leagues and certain test matches but not others! Iím sure officials could travel in small teams to officiate these matches within the bubble, especially now international cricket is fairly close to a normal schedule

I wonder if his international debut has been delayed extensively as nobody can pronounce his name? 😂
