Any news on South Africa v England?

They are not on the ICC website, but my reckoning only Dharmasena, Gaffaney and Reiffel out of the Elite Panel will be available for the 1st test.

Congratulations to Aleem Dar, as the first test of the Australia v New Zealand series will see him get the record for number of test matches umpired outright.

As for South Africa v England, the four mentioned are a possibility, but I wouldn't rule out Oxenford and Wilson travelling straight from Pakistan. Also there's a decent chance either Palliyaguruge or Paul Wilson could support.

I wouldn't put it past the ICC to appoint Oxenford and Wilson after such a short turn around between series. They would be crazy to do so in my opinion and risk burning out umpires if they do that.

Dharmasena has umpired the last 4 England tests - surely England are due a break.

Tucker could also be a possible, but I wonder whether we will see Dharmasena, Reiffel and Gaffaney for the 1st 2 games, and i’ll go for Wilson, Braithwaite and Oxenford for the last 2.

In fact, the last 6 tests that Dharmasena has umpired have involved England. Maybe he is due a break from England.

According to Eurosport:

https://www.eurosport.co.uk/cricket/cricket-south-africa-v-england-first-test_sto7587804/story.shtml

Dharmasena and Gaffaney are in the middle, with Reiffel on TV duties for the Eng - SA Boxing Day test.

Could somebody please inform me if I’ve mossed a law change - can a ball only be a no ball if a wicket falls?

Very poor from ‘elite’ officials in the current climate, but especially shocking in this match that numerous blatant no balls have been failed to be called. Either the icc needs to ensure the tv umpire takes this responsibility or they need to make their officials do their jobs correctly!

Bruce Oxenford has injured his back, so Rod Tucker is on-field for the 4th test between South Africa & England. I assume Oxenford is now the TV umpire for the match.
